Too far to reach from MAnila

Reclusiveness, Quietness, discretion
The Checkin staff were not prepared for my arrival. The lobby kitchen staff and bar staff were seemingly poorly trained and unattentive. The bellboy staff were helpful and attentive. The food was mediocre. There is not much to do and the beach is very limited. The pool is small and overcrowded.

Good stay

Spacious room and area, Clean, Stress free
Our stay in Matabungkay is good in fact I could recomment it to friends. What disappoints me was the scenrio wherein we asked assistance for our kids floater. The receptionist approached the "kuya" to assist us however that "kuya" just ignored and walked away. We waited patienly in front of the receptionist until "kuya" came back and receptionist called him back, again he ignored and assisted the other group who are doing their checked outs. so I asked if there's still someone who could helped us..To that staff I called as "kuya", he should have just said look or find anyone else than to keep us waiting.

Pleasant stay

Beachside Villa, pools, beach
Generally pleasant except for the cable tv issue that was not acted upon (villa 2-H). We were offered to be moved to another villa but that was around 6 hours after we had completely settled in villa 2-H. Annoying but not annoying enough to ruin our stay.

Nothing impressive but not terrible

Very comfortable bed, nice living room, great pool
Complaints: bathroom smelled like pee the whole time; wasn't cleaned properly. Music blaring all through the night from karaoke singers. No coffee, no kettle, no microwave. Music blaring again at 6 a.m. due to company outing. Positives: two awesome pools, great sunset, very cold AC, hot water in the shower, decent breakfast, good service.

Weekend getaway

The staff, The pool, The ambiance
The stay we had was more than what we hoped for. The staff were very courteous, polite and were always available. Things in the bedroom and bathroom are new except for the TV, but who would spend their stay here watching TV. We snorkeled, played billiards, went swimming, walked the beach, ate good food, lounged at the sandbox coffee shop, bought souvenirs, lucky enough and went to the bubble party and had a really good rest. No trouble whatsoever. We'll be back for sure and will bring along friends and relatives.

Not good beach. Pricey in terms of amenities

sunset, swimming pools
The beach is not good and not ideal for swimming. However, the hotel has 3 swimming pools to choose from which are clean and not too crowded during our stay. But why would you go to a beach and only to swim in the pool? Also, the price of the hotel rooms are too high compared to amenities and other benefits that the guests could get. Perhaps this hotel was one of the best in the 70s or 80s or 90s. But now, the hotel is a very old building with no makeover, and yet the rates are almost at par with the modern-design beach hotels in batangas. The good thing about this resort is that it is not too crowded (at least during our stay)and the sunset view is awesome. The food are just okay.

Lousy Service, not prepared for company outings

Rooms were spacious. We stayed at the villa. Air conditioning was working. Food was delicious.
We arrived 15 minutes before check in and we were able to successfully check in after 2 hours. There were a lot of company outings going on, and the room that was assigned to us was not vacated on time. It took a while to get the room cleaned and when it was finally done we could still feel sand on the sofa bed and the comfort room still smelled of urine. Pools were very small compared to Pico de Loro. Also with the huge number of guests the pool water was not clear anymore. For dinner we had to call the attention of 3 staff before they could give us the menu. Staff were too busy with the large groups who were having dinner as well. The front desk staff was not able to give us the breakfast coupon upon check in so I had to get it from the front desk before we could pick from menu. You had to pay additional 50 pesos to convert the set meal to buffet, but the buffet had the same dishes as the set meal. Staff could not provide us with beach towels when we swam that morning ( though we were provided towels the afternoon before ). Staff asked us to come back after 30 minutes to get the towel. We came back and we were again asked to come back after 30 minutes. We didn't come back. We felt that if the staff were truly service oriented then he would have asked where we were swimming and offered to bring the towels to us. The villa we stayed at could accommodate 6 persons. The villa had 2 bedrooms with one queen bed each and one living room with a sofa bed with pullout. The sofa bed is too narrow to be able to sleep comfortably. I will not come back here nor recommend it.
