Great value for the money!!!

Authentic, great location, wonderful staff

My sister and I were backpacking through the Philippines and we had s fantastic stay at Maya's!! The staff was amazing and the location is the best. A 2 second walk from the beach and a really chill beach bar that provides beanbags to sun on! The huts are HUGE, we even had drinks out on our private deck one evening! They grow all their vegetables and herbs (maybe more too? We saw chickens and goats on site as well) and the food is homemade and delish. The huts feel very authentic, the place was welcoming and so fun - we didn't want to leave!! We recommend it 100% to any budget-conscious traveller looking for a nicer-than-your-typical backpackers place to stay. They give you towels and toilet paper but bring your own soap and shampoo etc. Safe in room was nice for our passports etc 😊

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by the staff with big warm smiles and complimentary drinks. Just what we need after a long bus ride under the sun! The room is clean, food is good and the staff are very friendly. Nothing to complain about!

Really happy and surprised

Overall fantastic, was really surprised. One staff member could possibly cheer up and be more happy. When we checked out she just took our monies and seemed very disinterested - no smile, shame. Tricycles to and from the lodge are frustrating with there prices, you should pay 80peso to the town.

Great but not perfect wooden house

Aircon, spacious, cable tv
7.7
We stayed in the native house, which is huge and could sleep 8 easily. We only went upstairs once during our whole stay. Overall it was very good: great value for money, good safe box, aircon, comfy bed, sofa and cable tv in living area, kitchenette and fridge useful for breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, decent restaurant attached, a nice feeling of privacy in the house, modern bathroom, wifi internet at acceptable speed. Minor issues: very noisy - you are surrounded by goats, chickens and insects which bleat and cry 24/7. There's also live music at the nearby bar and a club night on saturdays which goes on until midnight. The house is a bit dirty, but the bedroom was clean. There's only aircon in the smallish bedroom (just big enough for a bed), so if you want to cool down you have to lie on the bed. There are fans in the living room too though, so you can chill on the sofa. There was a procession of ants marching across our bedroom wall, but they didn't bother us so we left them alone. The location is good in that it's far from the street hawkers further down the road where most of the restaurants and dive shops are, but it's also a 5-10m walk every time you want to go do something. Overall an affordable and enjoyable stay. Tips: for the best food by far, go to the Pleasure Principle! We ate there twice it was so good.

I like this place. It was near everything else. The room was complete except for a tv. The rooms were a little worn down though. The staff were not so helpful. They always look tired and somewhat hesitate to lend some help.
