Wonderful Mekong experience with great staff

Location, food & service
My wife and I stayed for the one night package having booked from Ho Chi Minh City. We were collected from our hotel arriving late morning then returned to HCMC the following afternoon. Mekong Lodge is unique, the rooms thatched bungalow type, set along or back from the river amongst gardens. The iteniary was led for us by Khoa. He was a wonderfully nice, helpful guide who clearly cares about his community. He took us on bikes, boats, markets and local villages. The only slightly disappointing thing was the floating market at Cai Be. There's not much left of it compared to the past. However all the activities were very interesting. The food was all included at the resort and was of a high standard. Any mosquito problems are addressed with staff putting nets over the bed at night time. It was such a unique experience and made especially memorable by Khoa.

big complex without recreation areas inbetween

Unexpected cooking class
Problem to find the right boat - as they do not bear the name of the lodge! Phone number on confirmation works only on office days !!

Relaxing but disappointing

Great location, good food, enjoyed seeing the local villages
Our stay at Mekong Lodge was a mixed experience: from the outset it felt as though communication was not the strong point. For example we were unclear as to whether transport was included in our package and ended up having to contact Mekong Lodge directly to find out that it was not included. This resulted in us having to organise our own transport which was expensive to say the least. When we arrived at the resort it appeared as though nobody was expecting us! There was no central reception area and the staff were not particularly communicative. Our room was ok but it was small and we were a little disappointed with it. In fact the walls were so thin we could hear everything the people said in the room next to us! Again we were then unsure as to whether we would get any excursions included in our package. It was not until a tour guide introduced himself that things became clearer. It turned out that the trips off the island were the highlight- we enjoyed cycling around and seeing the local villages; particularly the local school children who were very excited to see us! The trip to the floating markets however the following day seemed slightly deceptive as actually there were only several boats and there was not the hustle and bustle we expected. All this said we enjoyed the relaxing nature of Mekong Lodge just perhaps better communication is required to ensure that all know where they stand.

amaging experinence!

The best is our guide Koa! And fun cycling, beautiful river and garden!
I stayed with my husband and 3 children 2nights 3days. This hotel is placed in front of Mekong river surrounding beautiful garden and nature. We enjoyed nice food in the open air restaurant. The pool is small but enough to enjoy and relax. My boys(age 14,11,8)enjoyed swimming. After enough rest, our guide Koa took us cycling. He is very very kind and clever. His English is exellent. And cycling are very exiting and marverous! It is not just sightseeing, that is the only experience touching local life and feeling local people. We are very impressed to have such a wonderful time. I don not think that the price is not expensive ,because we had many services like the cycling and boat tour and cooking class. We hope to come back to Mekong Lodge!

Perfect place to stay

Meals tour guide and all staff
The meals are all included tour guide available on small boat .excellent value. Rooms have no tv or radio but relaxing. Wi/fi available. Cooking class and craving of carrot all good fun. Back entrance to resort turn left and walk and met the locals. Overall staff were excellent and would go extra mile to help.

Unique hotel, interesting location.

Staff very keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
We did have difficulty arranging a pick up from Saigon, our hotel their arranged transport and liased with the Mekong Lodge. Our taxi for 4 people cost . Once there we had a great time, good food, and nice rooms.
Shopping Tip: There is no shopping locally, we took large bottles of water, but we were provided with bottled water daily.

Good service and relaxing environment

Friendly staff and cultura activities
nice resort with different activities, friendly staff and good service.

Disappointing but maybe nice for families

The rooms are not up to standard for the price range - rather run-down (prpbably haven't been renocvated for some time). Furthermore even the (premium) "riverside"-rooms are not directly at the riverside - they face a terrace which is accessible to everybody not allowing for any privacy. The food is below average and there is no alternative, since the hotel is not near any town. The positive thing, however, is that the place is very friendly to children. Apparently they offer discounts to families with children and hence there where many around.

A place to relax

I love the resort, I love the people there. Those I have some bad communication with someone named Quang , when I called him to ask for information, he talks to someone and call me "no" ( not the no in english but "no" in Vietnamese which means "it", not he ). I dont like being called so. Anyhow the hotel serves 2 good meals and a light breakfast. The resort is very nice from my point of view, I love seeing the river at dawn. They will get you to the village where you can buy stuff but from my experience, the price is too high, we can get these for cheap outside. Everything is perfect except we were giving an faraway room which makes me scare of a ghost.
Hotel Feature Tip: Please note the hotel has no TV and week internet access so make sure you bring something there for entertainment. There is no refrigerator too.

Lovely hotel with amazing service!

Gorgeous rooms, perfect location, multilingual staff, great value, etc.
one of our best stays in vietnam by far!!! fabulous facilities and absolutely gorgeous rooms.. no need to do a mekong delta tour, a full river and canoe tour is included in the price.. also includes cooking classes, breakfasts, 5 course lunch and dinner, guided cycling and market tours, etc. the only thing i recommend is to pre-organize transfers!!! we travelled via private taxi, which cost us return, and the taxi driver got lost and dropped us in a random back street.. the hotel will organize a private transfer return for only for a 4 hour drive.. if only we knew this earlier.
Hotel Feature Tip: As per my above comment, pre-organizing transfers with the hotel is a must!!!
