The Memphis Hotel has a reputation in the city of being a tremendous value for the money as the rooms are large, but basic, in order to accommodate those who are looking to save a bit of money on their accommodation. That doesn't mean that guests have to stay second-rate however. The staff is multi-lingual and friendly and the location is pretty tough to beat, especially for a lower-priced place. The main train station is nearby, as is the S-Bahn, and there are trams that stop directly outside the front door. Be certain to have a look at the very nearby Old Opera House for a beautifully restored facility dating back to the 1800s. A great stay for a great price, Memphis Hotel should definitely be considered.

Good price, but bad area.

Price, Nice staff, good beer in the lobby
Not a far walk from the train station and near some good ethnic restaurants. Small hotel with a tiny bar, but good beer. Price is okay and the rooms were clean.

Comfortable stay, near to Hbf and Romer

Comfortable stay, near to Hbf and Romer
Was told that this was situated in red light district, but didn't felt as dodgy as I thought. A lot of Mediterranean food around. Kebabs everywhere on the street. About 5-10min walk to Frankfurt Hbf. And another 10min walk to Romer. Location is quite good. Good for travelers transiting also. Overall, it was comfortable.

Nice hotel, but the street traffic is loud

Clean rooms, good size rooms, 3 minutes from the only interesting part of Frankfurt
Foreward: Frankfurt is one of the worst cities in Germany. It is an "international city" meaning it is the least "German" city in Germany and frankly spoken has no soul or character of note. With that said, if you MUST visit Frankfurt, then this is a nice hotel that is clean, central and relatively inexpensive. Advantages: if you want to visit the Bahnhofviertel (i.e. redlight district) you are very close but not directly inside it; you can probably smell it if the wind is right. Also the only significant German culture in the city (Römerplatz) is 5-10 minutes directly East on foot. Disadvantages: the Bahnhofviertel is a magnet for every type of low-life scumbag in Europe and Western Asia and as such they will stand around the street looking for something to steal and making noise until 04:00 most mornings. If you cannot handle late night street noise - avoid this hotel... and any hotel west of here to the train station for that matter, they only get worse. For me this was OK, but I am not a pampered princess and loud scumbags standing in the streets until late... made me miss London terribly. Cheers.
