Good to stay there
Pretty big in the area and has everything inside: restaurant, small pub, and even a warm pool. The only thing is if you take the Skii Bus to the mountain, Methven Resort is almost the first station and the bus will go round and round other motels in the area before really going ahead.

Good place for a few nights while on the slopes
Good value for money. Small rooms with very date decor, but updated bathrooms. There is a restaurant and games room on site, also a bit dated, but lots of great meal options in the village. Staff at check in were polite but did not offer any advice on eateries, resort facilities, activities etc. Good place to stay if you have a busy weekend planned and just need a bed.

Extra special
The chef,Thomas, made me a delicious vegan meal and dessert every night I was there (6). This was just wonderful and I'd certainly recommend guests stay in to eat.

Disappointing
Efforts of staff were saving grace of this review. Very helpful with early check in provided and making up sofa bed in evening. Other than that the hot pools (main reason for booking here) were luke warm. The shower is located inside the bathtub which is okay, however the curved bottom of the tub make it slippery when standing. This might be an issue for a person with mobility issues or younger kids. At checkout I suggested to the hotel receptionist of providing a rubber shower mat in such showers. She was grateful for the suggestion and said she would pass it on to management. Again, the staff were the saving grace of my stay.

Awesome Hotel
I would stay there again. However, if you are looking at getting the breakfast, it is 7-9am.

Overnight stay in Methven.
Overnight stay in Methven Resort for Hot Air Ballooning activity. Very quiet and relaxing with no other guests around probably due to low season in NZ. Clean rooms and toilets.

a nice break
bath, comfy beds, bar.
I came here for a week of skiing, i normally stay closer to the centre of Methven, but thought i would try the resort, check in was effortless, the room well appointed and clean, all staff i encountered were polite, Wi Fi was good, the bar area was a nice place to relax by the fire, it just needed some more people around. I would have no problem staying here again.

Satisfactory but not exemplary
Friendly staff, location, fireplace & pooltable
Service was very friendly (lovely family running the place) but dislocated ie. left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. No-one seemed to have a particular role so an example - when sitting by fire in evening we felt maybe we weren't meant to be there as every staff member at some time asked if we were ok and needed anything (twice) so after being asked six times we thought maybe they didn't want us there. Dining experience was odd. were not shown to table but took our order at fireplace and said she would let us know when to come to table. that did not happen - she came out holding mains (before entre) asking if we were having dinner at fireplace? Entre came at same time as main. We booked this resort because of location, spa pools and drying room. Location was great, spa pools were 29 degrees (too cold) and drying room did not dry wet ski gear because fan was repeatedly turned off - I went down five time during evening and turned it back on. Next day clothes were still wet - glad I wasn't skiing that day. I would probably go back to this resort but would hope the new owners have managed to bring things together and make the restaurant experience more inviting. I suppose I felt like I was staying at someone's house rather than a resort/hotel which some people may like but I prefer it to be more professional. This place has a lot of potential when they get the running of it together a bit better.
