Great Stopover in downtown Abu Dhabi

unfortunately our etihad flight from australia arrived early morning, so we had quite some time to kill before the normal check in time of 2.00pm, and no other rooms were available for an early check in because abu dhabi was booked out for the f1 grand prix that weekend. the reception staff were sympathetic and advised us to walk along to the right to the large modern al wahid shopping centre. our room became available around 1.00pm and we were very pleasantly surprised at the size - it was like an apartment with an excellent big comfortable bed, great kitchen, lovely bathroom and overall very well equipped. it was really too good for a short stopover, as we had another early flight the next morning.
Shopping Tip:
Walking distance to the large Al Wahid Shopping Centre with all the usual facilities found in a big centre including planty of Designer Label shops, and a very good "Dome" coffee shop/restaurant open long hours.
