Bur Dubai

Dubai has become one of the most talked-about destinations in recent years, and many of its most famous sites are in Bur Dubai district. Accommodation in Bur Dubai includes some of Dubai’s most opulent luxury hotels.

The city’s headlining attraction is the Burj Khalifa, which became the world’s tallest structure when it opened in 2009. It operates an exclusive hotel and expansive shopping center. The entire district boasts innovative architecture, and it’s worth setting a morning aside for a tour.

Bur Dubai sits west of Dubai Creek. It doesn’t have as many historic sites as Deira across the creek, but there are still some hints here of what Dubai was like before oil was discovered. Stop by Dubai Museum or take a water taxi (abra) along the creek to get an idea of life in old Dubai.

Another way to enjoy the area is to stroll through Creek Park, where walking paths follow the creek and a cable car offers a great view of the area. Za’abeel Park is also attractive.

Booking accommodation in Bur Dubai allows access to outstanding shopping centers like the Burjuman Centre, which recently reopened after an expansion project. There’s an emphasis on luxury in Dubai, and well-heeled travelers are in their element. Even so, bargains are still available in shops around Al Karama, a mixed residential and commercial zone.
