Basic room at expensive price

Clean, pleasant staff
Renovations so all windows were covered up. Constantly playing annoying music in hallways. Tired hotel with expensive price for very basic room.

No view at all! Plastic sheeting on all windows

the staff was nice (especially the driver), the food was fine, and we only stayed one night
Very disappointing. I made reservations at the Miyajima Hotel Makoto for a very special occasion. The hotel was very shabby, and they are currently undergoing extensive renovations. ALL of the windows are covered with plastic sheeting, occluding the view and making the rooms stuffy and very unpleasant. We only learned that the windows were covered after we were shown to our room. The hotel should not be open during such extensive renovations. It was an embarrassment to the beautiful island of Miyajima.

High ground, spacious and spa
It is pleasant, quiet and comfortable experience, except the hotel is undergoing renovation, the window view is not available. Would imagine the view to be splendid since the hotel is built on high ground

Renovation not mentioned

Food, staff
There was a renovation ongoing and all the windows were covered. The Smell of the paint was all over the room, the windows could not be opened and there was no view outside possible since the windows were covered. None of this was mentioned in the reservation. Price was too high for the condition of the hotel.

Great Experience

Location food amenities
We really enjoyed our stay, staff were wonderful, don't miss breakfast! Wish we had dinner here as breakfast was amazing! Rooms were comfortable, japanese style with plenty of room. You can use a private onsen for free if you don't want to brave it with the locals, just make sure to book a time. In a quiet location but not far from anything on the island. Great shuttle bus to pick you up /take you backfrom the ferry,. Not much open on the island of a night so food is limited , would definatley book dinner at hotel if breakfast was anything to go by it would be delicious! It is a true ryokan, it is a wonderful experience would go back and stay again. Thankyou to all at miyajima hotel Makoto for a very enjoyable stay

nice ryokan style hotel

short walk to ferry and not too far from restaurants
Very nice, we didn't use the onsen or eat in the hotel but they gave us dining vouchers to use and both places they recommended were good. We went out and while we were gone our futons were laid out by the staff, ready for when we got back.

Atmosphere, Location, Traditional
Lovely Island atmosphere & only a 10 minute ferry ride from bustling Hiroshima. Traditional Japanese accommodation made for a unique experience. My only complaint is there weren't enough towels.
