Good budget place to stay in Hsipaw
Mr Charles is generally very good value for money. There are single rooms with fans which are very basic but comfortable. However, the walls are very thin so you will hear people next door!! Good buffet-style breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff with info on trekking and bus tickets to other places. Bathrooms are clean and showers have plenty of hot water.

Don't go here - spent your money at a small guesth
The breakfast was very good, the price for the room was cheap, which resulted in a tiny room with no windows and dirty sheets. The staff is friendly, but there are sooo many people working that they only talk with each other and don't notice if you are standing there at the reception with a question. The last day we had a 5am bus and the people at the hostel promised a good breakfast to go including fried rice and coffee. We reminded them twice about the breakfast, but the next morning there was no breakfast and we quickly got 3 old toasts, 2 old bananas and instant coffee (no hot water). We regret staying at this guesthouse. Please, Don't go to this place. We talked with locals and they told us that de Mr charles family is very rich and gets all the money from the travellers and use it to keep on growing, it's better to go to an other place to better divide the money in this region.

Enjoyed my stay
I had a very small single room but didn't need any more space. Breakfast was impressive for a hostel/hotel: veg rice, veg noodles, egg, traditional noodle soup, pancakes, toast & jam, banana, green tea, good coffee, orange juice, help yourself as much as you want. Organises tours, trekking, hires cycles but I had problems with my bike. Overall very good.

Most popular option when visiting Hsipaw
The lady from the Charles Hotel was so helpful, incredible. She gave me so many tips and her English is perfect! Thank you. The guesthouse is a little bit more backpackerish but it does the trick of you do not have high standards. The bathrooms are outside so you will have to go there from your room. Breakfast is great! There is a buffet with everything you want and need.

Nice little place, family run and very friendly.
Staff, location and comfortable rooms
A real delight to meet an owner who cares about their customer experience. This is in stark difference to what we received at Richard's Inn in Kalaw. The room was nice, food was OK and the staff were super. Location was good but they could dow with more bikes to borrow...we were lucky and someone leant us theirs for the afternoon.

They came pick us up at our bus stop on the evening, we were upgrated our first night and could booked a 3 days trekks for the next morning for a very good price. Very good and healthy breakfast with a lot of choice. Good spot with plenty of restaurant (mister shake is very good) Our trekk was amazing with a great guide ! We had a lot of fun. Our last night we did not have water in the bathroom, they fixed it right away. Good hotel, good staff and good price

All nice here
Good clean hotel/hostel backpacking atmosphere great trekking service I strongly recommend. One of the best accommodation experience in Myanmar.
Good friendly staff good level of English language very informative the room was basic but clean enough noise level a bit high as expected in Myanmar but we could sleep comfortable. Shared toilets in our case very clean and separated shower paid only 12 for double room booked with Agoda so great value. Met fantastic people experienced travellers and the 3 day trekking we booked with them was the best experience we had in Myanmar. I will definitely stay again and again.
