Good value

Location, staff friendliness, cleanliness
Good value hotel 40 minute walk to centre in the throws of being upgraded so noisy at present. Room doesn't get wifi but the staff were very friendly, particularly at breakfast.

I was quite disappointed

The dining room and the breakfast were lovely
For a hotel in Scotland's Capital City, I was honestly quite astounded that there was not one member of staff I came across that was actually Scottish. They were (I think) all Eastern European. A far cry from the good old Scottish hospitality I was expecting given that the hotel is a stones throw away from Murrayfield Stadium! Check-in was fine other than I forgot I was in Scotland with the receptionist and Manager? twittering away in their native language during our check-in. When we got to our room, there was no duvet on the bed, so I wandered along the corridor to find three housekeeping staff quite out out by my request for a duvet. Given that it was the middle of winter I didn't think I was asking too much. The size of the room was fine as we were only staying one night. There was a good selection and amount of teas and coffee, although the sachets of hot chocolate had been used and the empty packets left in place of full ones :o( The bathroom was a decent size but wasn't cleaned to the standards you would expect in a place you are paying to stay. They could do with a wee refurb or even a few minor fixes. We were visiting family so only ate in the restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant, is quite simply, beautiful. What a lovely surprise before checking out! It was warm and cosy and festive and comfortable. The buffet wasn't spectacular but you could also order from a small menu. The eggs benedict was very nice indeed. The staff were ok, I just found the majority of them a bit uninterested. Having previously worked in the Scottish hospitality industry for many years, I was expecting a lot more in the way of Scottish hospitality. I was quite disappointed.

Decidedly average. Not as advertised.

The bar, car parking, 20 minutes walk to Princes Street.
The room was advertised as an Executive Double but was very small with two single beds connected together. The sheets on the bed were extremely creased although clean. There was no mattress covers and so could see stripes of mattress underneath. The remote control for the TV was missing so we went to reception and they said that the last guests had taken it and would try to find a replacement. This did not happen. The quilt for the bed did not fit as was only a single. We, again, went down to reception and they said that housekeeping would sort it. Arrived back in the room at 0930pm after going out and it still had not been done. Enquired at reception and 10 minutes later they delivered an ill fitted quilt in a cover which we had to then fit ourselves. There was no local Edinburgh information leaflets available in English. Could try harder if they want better comments.

Elagantly decorated without the huge price

Beds were comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the staff where very helpful and friendly
We loved our stay. We were very impressed with the elegant quality of the rooms, comfortable beds and the size of the room, especially in a city environment where rooms are usually quite small. The included breakfast was delicious. Fresh croissants, bacon, sausage cooked fresh, eggs made to order, French toast made upon order (not pre-made and left to sit in a warming pan) definitely started out the day on a good note.

Average hotel i Edinburgh

Public transports close by, cost, room
For our last night in Scotland, we decided to stay at this hotel in Edinburgh. It is not close from the city centre but the bus stop is just across the street. Rooms are fine, modern and clean but the noise insulation is not so good. Did not have breakfast so can not comment about it. Average price for Edinburgh, taking into consideration location and price/quality.

Wonderful hotel, but lacking in details

friendly employees, easy connection with airport and city, pub
Our stay was excellent, although we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel. the hotel is next to a busy road, so expect to hear some noise. the biggest problems were the matrasses, which had springs that came out of the fabric. I never had such a bad bed. The breakfast service was very very slow. the first can easily be solved by an Ikea cover matrass, the second by having a maitre'D and a kitchen that works faster.

Short and sweet stay

Breakfast, easy access to city center, safe
Quiet, comfortable stay for a quick trip to Scotland. The room was smaller than I initially thought but was clean and fine for the price.breakfast was included and it was delicious. The bus is easy to access but there is little to do around the hotel itself.
