like having your own apartment middle of toronto
middle of town, convenient to subway/bus/sites, nice kitchenette with cooking utensils and cutlery, washer/drier/iron board/iron in room, cool and zen-like furniture and atmosphere and close to everything
8.3
I was going to say that this hotel is pricey but decided against it as most hotels in Toronto are expensive and this one definitely was worth it. The ambience is very cool and zen-like with nice music that was offered as a CD when checking in. It seemed a bit understaffed but everyone was helpful. It is in a central location, convenient to the Sony music hall, subway, theatre district, convention center etc. so even in the cold snow storm it was not miserable to get around and back. Best about this place apart from the location is it seems more like a condominiun/apartment rather than a hotel. It has a kitchen with everything you need to cook so budget travellers can save a lot on meals. Supermarket is close by and I lived cheaply but ate well here. There is a washer and drier (along with detergent/softener!) ready with iron board and iron. You will feel like a regular Torontoian living here.
Restaurant Tip:
Tips about eating - Toronto has such a wide variety of restaurants so skip the mediocre and fastfood chains. Irish embassy is closest bar with very good selection of single malts, good salads and inexpensive. Marche across the road has a wide selection of almost every cuisine. Avoid a place called Bardi's as it is tasteless and non-descript. I liked going to get fresh veg and seafood from St. Lawrence market (3 blocks walk) to cook myself. Huge scallops, salmon, trout and every kind of gourmet cheese under the sun! Bon apetit!
