Stayed at the Sylvia for New Years eve...the location is unbeatable. We were upgraded to a King Room with a full kitchen. I could definitely see us staying at the Sylvia for an extended stay because of the amenities. Woke up, grabbed brunch, and watched the Polar Bear Dip right outside our door!

the sylvia is a complete original - a wonderful old historical building perched right on the edge of english bay - with rooms that have been lightly renovated so that they are very oomfortable but feel and smell like you're walking into another era. the bar/restaurant has a stunning view right out onto english bay. you're just steps to the sea wall and stanley park plus all the shops and restaurants on denman.

The Sylvia is a classic hotel located in the heart of Vancouver's West End right on English Bay and beside the famed Stanley Park. The sunset views from the restaurant and bar are incredible. The rooms are clean and furnished well, but quite small by modern hotel standards.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Rent a bike on Denman street and ride around the Stanley Park seawall

A conveniently sized hotel, older, in an excellent location near downtown Vancouver. The beach is accross the road and the view and surroundings are lovely. The hotel is older and needs a facelift on the inside, at least. It needs coffee and tea in the rooms and an ice machine on each floor. In spite of its faded appearance it still has charm.

Parking, (unsecured) is part of the hotel and convenient.

hotel is located nearby the seabank, good for walk. Many cafes or restaurants can be found on next streets, C23 bus stop is also very near. Room is clean, guests are warmly welcomed, service is good enough

In my opinion, Sylvia is a right choice for people who want to depart from here to downtown for shopping or just take a walk to view Vancouver panorama, especially along the sea. Service in hotel is good enough, foods in restaurant are delicious. However you should pay for tea or coffee if you want to have in room.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The streets nearby hotel are quite nice in autumn with colorful trees and parks. The seaview is really beautiful.
