Pretty average hotel with a beachbar right on the beach. The location is as good as it gets on the north part of Isla Mujeres.
Five minutes walk to center of downtown. Note, The hotel onsists of two seperate buildings, quite different in style, choose depending on preferance. Free water is included.

Perfect location on the beach
Location....step out onto the beach
5.7
Rustic. Don't expect too much from the hotel apart from its fantastic location on the beach. If you do not expect too much, you ill be greatly rewarded.
The secret is to relax into the pace of the island, appreciate the premium position this hotel has on the beach, and do not get too bothered by what can appear slow and sometimes unfriendly service. This can be the norm in a more unsophisticated part of the world but the people are genuine and, on many occasions display great humour.
Restaurant Tip:
Don't forget to try Roosters Restaurant

Lovely location but noisy rooms
The location and beach outside
7
The Isla is amazing and this hotel has a great location close to all the nice beaches on the island.
There are only two downsides of this hotel and they are:
- noisy rooms (at least in the tower section). We could hear everyting from the rooms around, not only folks screaming, but also ordinary talk, TV, etc.
- breakfast. I don't know who eats two toast and a small package of jam and calls it "hotel breakfast". It's just not enough. Luckily, the location is great regarding to eating as well: there are a couple of nice street-side restaurants on an old market minutes away from the hotel and they all open around 7 am so you can have your breakfast there.
Other than that, this is a nice place, rooms are clean and big and the staff is friendly.
Restaurant Tip:
I highly recommend Luncheria no. 3 in the nearby market. We went there for breakfast and lunch for one week and never got tired of their food. Great tasting and reasonably priced. Try the papaya/orange juice!

Cabanas Maria Del Mar Hotel

Perfect location.
Located right on Playa Norte

Very consistant hotel. The reception staff does not speak english very well and it would have been helpful to know things in advance like the lock for the safe and that beach towels are available. I've only stayed in the building across the street, the rooms are sparsely appointed but always clean.

Lovely Location, Poor Room, Okay Staff
Best Location, Can leave the hotel in your swimming suits to the beach
4.3
This hotel has one of the best location hotels on the island. Most hotels on the beach are expensive but this one was not. It can be a really charming hotel but due to the poor maintenance (the yard and garden) it looks terrible. I felt so sorry for this hotel as this can be the best hotel on the island with the perfect location. If your option is breakfast included you will go to a restaurant on the beach. This restaurant/bar is outdoor and sitting on beautiful beach side. The service is worst sever though, they never come back once they server you what you ordered. No one smiles either. Overall, very good location for both the hotel and the restaurant, but bad customer services. The rooms are not fancy at all, very simple and very outdated.
Nightlife Tip:
For drinks and food, walk one or two minutes to go to much better restaurants and bars on the beach side, towards the east side, where hotel Avalon is. The price is about the same....actually cheaper beer and much better quality food for a big more money.
