Just what you would expect from a 3 1/2 star
location, beautiful beach and pool

Good location for Cancun -- near the big clubs and right on the beach. Taxi drivers all through Cancun, especially at the airport are horrible. If you want to travel around, or even have a group, rent a car. The Hyatt is one of about only 5 hotels in the area that is not an all inclusive. Whenever negotiating to buy something, including taxis, don't ask how much in US dollars, ask how much in Pesos. This will save you about 25%. Best to always pay in pesos also, for same reason. There are 2 buses that run up and down the strip. They cost 8.5 pesos, and they will give you change if you use small bills. To exit, go to rear of bus and press the stop button.
Shopping Tip:
Everything is over priced, don't buy anything here. Whatever you do buy, always pay in pesos and you will save about 25%.

This is a good hotel for any type of traveler. It is near the nightlife area with many restaurants, the pool is good and it is beach front. Staff are nice and there is a tour desk at the lower level of this hotel.

We had to attend a wedding in Cancun but the resort where the hotel was held was too expensive and thus we picked this hotel!
The lobby and rooms are clean but a little old... Our room is also clean, bed is hard but comfy, pillows are good. The bathroom is a little old but thankfully was cLean for its age! I noticed most shopping arcades and resorts in Cancun are dated so this hotel is really not bad!
Remember this is Hyatt Regency and not Grand Hyatt so the hotel lacks that luxurious feel Grand Hyatt has.
PROS: Good location (walkable to Starbucks, a shopping arcade, and Coco Bongo), Clean, decent service, and beautiful beach at the back of hotel
CONS: Dated interiors, no free wi-fi or internet, staff are borderline rude...

the hotel was average for a hyatt regency brand. breakfast was average choice and rooms were fairly basic. only good thing was the free wi fi and the view from the room.
would not stay here again if given a choice.

Good rooms in a central location in the Cancun

fab hotel and well worth paying out the extra to stay on the top 3 floors as the views are amazing and you get free breakfast& evening drinks!
we loved sitting outside each night in the comfy beds watching the world go by. it was a very trendy setting and reminded me of us being back in ibiza or somewhere else uber trendy!
the hotel is walking distance to the famous night spots like coco bongos but far enough away to still be nice!
the staff made us feel very safe and welcome.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If the port in Cancun is closed due to bad weather, head across to Isla Mujeres for a day trip and do some snorkelling there! The ferries depart every hour and is interesting to see this peaceful island.

Hyatt Regency Cancun Hotel

Great location - walking distance to all night clubs and bars, very nice and clean beach and pool. Rooms are nice and spacious. Poor housekeeping - rooms were not cleaned and we needed to call to make them. Not enough towels - just two per room. No bar open after midnight. I have been expected more from Hyatt, but in the end, it is ok.

stay awaay from this hotel
The hotel is very close to the hotel zone, the clubs and such. It is by the ocean so it has its own coast. But, you may find these in other hotels in the hotel zone line. I chose to stay there because it was very close to the place of a conference I went Cancun for, Cancun convention center.

do not stay there. there are much cheaper hotels right next to it. i had to change my room because water was dropping from the spot light right on my bath tube. they said they will send a maintenance, and they did. the next time i wanted to take a shower, it was the same problem. they changed my room, i was staying in a smoking and ocean-view room. the new room was non-smoking (even though i told them i wanted a smoking room) and half ocean view. when i again asked for a smoking room, they let me smoke in that room. so, actually people smoke in non-smoking rooms as well. bummer. and they are not standardized. you need to make a payment to make a phone call to reception and then go back to your room and use the phone there, which was broken in my room, or the one in the lobby, which has no privacy. i am told the price for a call was 11 pesos once, then 13 pesos once and 30 pesos once. lol, they just make up numbers i guess.
Hotel Feature Tip:
stay away. do not choose. there are other hotels around cheaper and much better.

The sea around the hotel is amazing. I swam to the hotel next door and felt like in a James Bond novel. LOVED the Mexican staff, so so friendly and genuine helpfulness. Didn't even need to leave the hotel. Also the day beds are out of this world luxury. Yoga every morning at Dreams nextdoor, wonderful! Eat the fruit platter and let the staff pamper you.
Restaurant Tip:
Eat at sunset at the hotel, at least one night of your stay, the chief there is really great. Try the crab and mango starter salad, yum.

Nice high class hotel with a home-like feeling. They left you alone but were always there if you needed anything.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Just taking the long walk along the beach to the other hotels was a pleasant experience, and relaxing, and a good walk to the other shopping areas (Kalkucan Plaza). Also paying 10 dollars for a one-way bus trip over to Cancun was worth it, and buses stopped all the time to pick you up. Nice to see the "other " Cancun as well as hotel areas.
