Barracuda Hotel, Cozumel

Stayed there last July 2008 came back for 9 nights in May 2009. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Can do shore dives right in front of hotel (great for check out dives) 100 yards south there is a not so pretty but very lively artificial reef caused by the destruction of the dolphin pens during Hurricane Wilma. Don't miss the airplane in 20' of water on route to that reef. All rooms are oceanfront with small TV, A/C and mini fridge. Plenty of hot water in showers. New MEGA supermarket right across the street is very convenient to getting any supplies needed. Walking distance to Margaritaville and 2 hr laundry service. This hotel is typical of reasonably priced hotels in Mexico. It is not plush by any means but is more than sufficient for most needs. If you are looking for plush then you should a 5 star facility where you can pay for those types of frills. Taxi's can be expensive on this island so we prefer to walk whenever possible. This hotel is within easy walking distance of all the downtown San Miguel restaurants and shopping opportunities.
