Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Surprisingly good
Terrific location, very clean,modern, attractive

based upon the price, i was expecting something more downscale, but it had a glossy exterior, a fine lobby and dining room, immaculate hallways, and the room was fine. the front desk was very friendly and helpful -- they speak english, but indulged me in practicing my rusty spanish. the chambermaids were terrific about letting me work until almost their quitting time, then quickly cleaning the room while i collected my girlfriend at the airport.
forty bucks a night, right off la reforma? nothing to complain about at all.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The neighborhood around Plaza Garibaldi is still a bit sleazy, but it has vastly improved over afew years ago, and it's a very pleasant walk from the hotel to see the Mariachi bands and have dinner. Take a cab back though.

Have been staying here for years

when i travel to mexico city, i always stay at the monaco. it is a gem of a hotel with quality you would expect at a higher price. it is near the alameda and walking distance from the zocalo and the central historical district. the in-house restaurant is good and the waiters attentive. one indication of the quality is that i have only ever seen mexicans in the restaurant- always a good sign when the locals eat there.
that being said, the single rooms (i ended up staying in a deluxe room) are small and airless. they need to remodel these. the larger rooms are grand, though- spacious, good light and nice beds.
the monaco is lovely and i will be staying there again next week- and next year.
