They charged $15 each for 4 boxes as receiving fees. They did not let us know about the fee and no one in charge was able to discuss these fees.
Phone in room only worked on speaker, the buttons did not work on the hand set.
The Amalfi Hotel is in an excellent location. I was there for Art Chicago and it was walking distance to the Merchandise Mart. It is also very close to Michigan Avenue and short cab rides to anywhere in the city. One of the best Chicago restaurants, Keefers is 1/2 block away. The hotel staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. They offered special coupons for drinks in their bar, which we never had time to visit. They do have a very nice complimentary breakfast every morning before 10 am. The bathroom had everything one would need, including a lighted makeup mirror.
The room itself was large but we were located on the 2nd floor. Since we were wedged between two buildings ther was very weak cell phone reception.
Restaurant Tip : Keefers is 1/2 block away and a great after wook bar and dining spot.

Clean, quiet and contemporary. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Nice touches such as Aveda product in baths, and utilization of nearby Harry Carey's for in-room dining. Free continental breakfast was a nice bonus
Lobby/check-in area is a bit tight right now, but renovations currently underway should address that.

Great location, really comfy bed, friendly staff.
Valet parking was really expensive so we parked at the self-park down the street on Kinzie. 18.00 per 24 hours weekend rate.
Great hotel and a great value! I would highly recommend it. I asked for a quiet room and didn't hear a peep all night. The room was very clean, and had a flat-screen TV and well-stocked mini bar. There were a few good magazines (In Style, etc.) in the room, as well as a few books and CDs. They even have an IPOD docking station/alarm clock that you can drop your pod into. Breakfast buffet on each floor was very simple: coffee, yogurt, juice, and sweet roles. Small but decent fitness room. I was so happy with this hotel, esp. given the price I got on Agoda.
