Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Old shabby hotel with poor service
3.7
everything is money.
bad mobile reception in rooms. they charge you even for 1800 numbers.
rooms are old and poorly designed. linen average at best. poor lighting, ?to save electricity.
there's a smell of dirty clothes in the room and corridors
The valet parking guy had really bad attitude.
there are much better hotels out there that charge less.

Interesting Hotel
Position, most things worked well
8
We enjoyed our stay in Chicago and the Congress Plaza was a good location for seeing the interesting sights in the city area. It's easy walking distance to the excellent Art Gallery and The Field natural history museum. The hotel has seen better days appearing to have been one of if not the premier hotel in Chicago. The size and scale of the building, particularly the public areas are large and interesting. The room we stayed in was clean and reasonably comfortable. Though there was a slight feel of tiredness about some of the room decor. Though everything we wanted worked. The staff in the hotel were excellent, helpful and pleasant.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We started off not having been to Chicago before with an orientation trip on one of the circular tour buses. This paid off as we were later easily able to find places we wanted to visit.
Second, the tran from O'Hare airport was good value and took about 45 minutes.

Great location but extreme bad price/quality level
4.3
The maintenance of the hotel is far below level that one would expect. Bathroom so bad shape that it cannot be cleaned properly, carpet in the room should be replaced a long time ago. Overall impression of the room very poor.
Historical buildings still can be maintened proprely and cleaned so that a guest feels appreciated. That I did not find in this hotel.

Very good location for the sites and museums.
The staff was helpful, cleaning people polite when i asked for more coffee packs.

the first room we had was a bit dismal. i understand it is a 100 year old hotel but things like the bathroom fixtures were not in the best of condition and looked tired. also being on the 22nd floor with windows that open was a bit scary. we changed rooms to a newer portion of the hotel and everything was just fine. clean room on the third floor and a nice shower head with plenty of hot water was enjoyable. just a bit of twist and turns to get to the room but i understand this with the age of the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Close to most of Chicagos museums; millenium park and other attractions

Great location and good service.
Easy to go anywhere by walking from the hotel.

We upgrade our room from city view to lake front. It was very nice with big window so you can see everything from your room. We're so happy.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Just walk straigh from the hotel you can fine everything you like to see on the way including nice restaurant everywhere. Chicago is interesting city and you can walk all day long and we think we will come back again and spend more time in the city.

The hotel has the best view in town!!
The hotel's view and location close to the town's tourists interests are perfect
7
the service was effective and smooth.
my request for a non-smoking room with a lake view was noted and we got the town's perfect view. we got the park and lake michigan beautiful scenery just across our our hotel room.
however, the room and the hotel in general need modernisation.
