Avenues
Experience contemporary cuisine at its finest-Avenues recently received Four Stars from Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Tmes and Chicago magazine. Avenues joins an elite group of restaurants in the city to boast this 12-star achievement. "Bowles' food is so fascinating, so distinctive, that I'd be inclined to rave about him under any circumstances," as stated by Phil Vettel, restaurant critic for the Chicago Tribune. The restaurant seats 72 guests, has a private dining room that can accommodate up to 12 people, and offers views overlooking the historic Water Tower.
Shanghai Terrace
Experience Chinese cuisine at its most extraordinary in the seductive setting of Shanghai Terrace, reminiscent of a Shanghai supper club from the 1930's. The menu features Cantonese and Shanghainese delicacies for lunch and dinner. Shanghai Terrace recently re-opened following a three-month renovation to expand the restaurant and menu. The new semi-private dining room, exquisitely appointed and spacious enough to accommodate up to 30 guests, can turn an event into a unique experience.
The Lobby
The spectacular 5th-floor Lobby features 20-ft floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking North Michigan Avenue. The Lobby offers breakfast, lunch, the legendary Peninsula Afternoon Tea, and dinner to the soothing melodies of the pianist and cellist, who perform daily. On Friday and Saturday evenings, a contemporary jazz trio and singer also perform for your dancing pleasure in The Lobby for Jazz at The Pen. Also on Friday and Saturday evenings, enjoy Chocolate at The Pen, featuring our decadent chocolate buffet.
The Bar
An elegant, comfortable meeting place with an art nouveau flavor and roaring fireplace where one can enjoy a vast array of premium cocktails, ports, and cigars as well as light snacks. Try the Gentleman's Retreat Tea, served daily, including a selection of hearty appetizers, a glass of The Peninsula's new, privately blended Woodford Reserve Bourbon, tea or coffee, and a fine cigar.
Pierrot Gourmet
A European-style café and wine bar with alfresco dining in the summer. The menu includes homemade cakes and pastries, the signature "sourdough tartines" and specialties such as Pain au Cerise, Cherry Cheese Turnovers, and Chocolate Orange Brioche plus unique coffees and an extensive selection of wines by the glass. Convenient "to go" menu available.
Grand Suite
The two elegant and spacious Grand Suites, on the 16th and 17th floors, feature two bedrooms and a separate living room, dining room, and study.
