There is a station for the Las Vegas Monorail at the Convention Center which takes you to the Strip and is mostly very convenient. You can expect to do a lot of walking--the monorail stations are at the rear of various casinos and you have to walk through them in order to reach the Strip. Much further than you might think, especially if you are carrying anything.
Travel tip : The day-use ticket for the monorail is the best value: unlimited rides in a 24 hour period for $9 as opposed to $5 for each single use ticket.
