The Cecil Hotel is a highly affordable downtown Los Angeles hotel built in European style. Situated in a classic building from 1927, this hotel provides great value and fantastic access. It is ideal for convention goers, university students, and budget vacationers. Many of LA's finest shops, trendiest restaurants, and famed entertainment are all within walking distance. For example, the world renowned Los Angeles Fashion District, Los Angeles Jewelry District, and Santee Alley are just steps away from the hotel. Also, USC and the Los Angeles Convention Center are only a few blocks away. Rooms have basic amenities and are decorated in earth tones and neutral colors. Some rooms have a private bathroom while others have shared facilities. If you want to be close to the most important sites in downtown LA and not break your budget, the Cecil Hotel is just right for you.

MTR station- 5 minutes walk.
Entry decoration is very nice and looks like 4 star hotel, but when you enter into rooms , you will be surprised to see the old style village room. Book only room with attached bathroom. Only advantage is that MTR station is very near and all around, hotels and restaurants are available for the dining.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take MTR with 5$ day pass and go anywhere, any corner of Los Angeles.

The Cecil Hotel located at an excellent location with nearby bus stop and metro station to different place, e.g. Universal Studio, Disney, and even to San Francisco and Las Vagus (by Greyhound). However, it subset remodeled part, namely Stay Hotel which is located at the lower level of the building is even better. It is fashionable and trendy which suits youth more.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to Disney by nearby Metro, go to University Studio by nearby bus, and go to Las Vagus or San Francisco by Greyhound with nearby terminal. And, can even go to the airport by direct bus at the next street.

The Cecil Hotel is a bit old-fashioned with an excellent and convenient location. The room is clean but its facilities (e.g. TV) was poor and without air-conditioning. The staff is also nice. It is under renovation now. I believe it would looks much better after the remodeling.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It is very close to the Greyhound Terminal. There is also Metro station and bus-stop nearby for going to Universal Studio and Disney.
