The hotel is located in not so 'unfriendly' neighborhood. the staff were friendly but I just realized that this hotel has gruesome history of murders and suicide that made me re-think to ever again book the hotel for my future visit in LA

Worst hotel I ever stayed in

Good location although some people,think it is a little dangerousness, lots of crazy people around, it is a good starting point for exploring the city, it's in the lively arts district, which personally I liked. Staff were warm and friendly. Other that that the room was a disgrace, small, old, very cold, no hot water. Did not look at all like the photos on agoda. Breakfast was terrible. No wifi in rooms as advertised. Also, they have a ridiculous policy of charging 50 dollars to your card in case you break anything. They refund it after you leave if nothing is broken. malsomif you wanna make a local there is a 50 dollar charge to open the line and they refund you what you don't use. I IFAs expecting Bazil Fawltey to appear.

The Cecil hotel is ideal for travelers/backpackers with a decent budget who would be out the whole day trying to get the LA experience. It serves as an okay place to rest for the night and to be off to another adventure the next day.

Beautiful old fashioned hotel.
Downtown convenient to all LA. Staff was helpful. The neighborhood is not the best.

Two blocks in any direction the neighborhood was fine. Getting off the Metro bus at night with my thirteen year old daughter; the two of us were alarmed at the vagrants on the corner. Nothing happened and the hotel is well patrolled.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The LA Metro is a great deal. A $5 Tap card allows you to get on and off buses and trains all day as many times as you like.

This hotel is good in terms of location. But when talking about the rooms it's very very bad. The rooms are small. The beds are small.. The toilet is very bad. We have a private bathroom but I think it's the first time I saw that kind of bathroom and toilet. I think the owner if the hotel must have a lookf what his hotel looks like...the tiles are not properly installed. They just paint the walls without properly finished...even my 12years old son commented about the finishing...they need to change the doors of the toilet because its very old... We book the hotel twice...if I know the first time that this is the situation, I will not book for this hotel from San Diego.
