- Convenience to Canal & Bourbon Street - Friendly staff - Good service - Beautiful decor in entrance - Amenities (ie, free printing, business room, pool, fitness center) - Overall cleanliness

- Walls in my room had scuffs/marks - Linen had minor stains - CD player didn't work - Closet door got knocked out of its track

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza in New Orleans and will definately come back again to this particular hotel. The entrance is beautiful with crystal chandeliers and marble floors. There is a good restaurant by the Brennan family right in the lobby area although I never had the chance to try the food. It's location is superb if you are looking for high quality lodging and convenience to the nightlife that New Orleans offers you. It faces Canal Street and is on the corner of Bourbon Street. You are within walking distance to a CVS/Pharmacy if you need supplies and a Canal Shopping Mall if you want to go shopping which has Banana Republic and BCBG. At night, you can just walk and turn the corner within 40 feet and you are automatically at the beginning of a crazy night out on Bourbon Street. If you are intolerant of outdoor noise, I highly recommend that you put a special request for noise reduction when booking with Astor. The staff is friendly and efficient. My room was cleaned everyday around the mid-afternoon time and the room itself was cozy with minor scrapes/stains on the wall.

Nightlife Tip : If you are sensitive to noise, I would highly recommend that you let the hotel staff know about this. Astor Crowne Plaza is conveniently situated at the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street and so if you are placed in a room facing Bourbon Street, you will hear loud music, obnoxious karaoke, and miscellaneous hollaring from tourists wandering and partying on that street. I personally did not mind it and wanted to face that street as part of a sight-seeing commodity. However, if you are sensitive or intolerant to such obscenities, request to be placed as far from street noise as possibe.

Great location on the edge of Bourbon Street, excellent restaurant, dark curtains to keep out early morning light .

Maid service could not seem to replenish coffee and toiletries consistently, pool small.

This is a great location if you want to enjoy Bourbon Street and have close walking proximity to the sites in the French Quarters. The restaurant is excellent and though the pool is small it is adequate. Request a room on a high floor to tune out late night Bourbon Street activity and enjoy the dark curtains...they block out early morning sun very effectively!

Restaurant Tip : The hotel restaurant is excellent, and don't miss Coop's Place for Jambalaya, Praline Connection for Soul Food and Brennon's for breakfast (baked apple bananas foster are a must!).

Lobby furniture, amazing oyster bar, friendly helpful staff, room was well appointed and had plenty of space

TV was old, pool needed more chaise lounges. (only three)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza. As a group of 26, the oyster bar on the first floor was a perfect meeting place at the end of the day. Woody, Perry, and Leo, were practically our family by the end of our four day weekend. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the food was amazing. We loved the location of the hotel. Close to all of the action, but not right in the middle of it. Our group was diverse in ages and interests and this hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to do (shop, gamble, eat, drink) We will definitely stay there again. Tip: Ask for Perry's secret sauce when you sit at the oyster bar.

The location is fabulous, the rooms are large and the price was very affordable.

Parking was very unaffordable.

The Astor Crown Plaza in New Orleans offered the perfect location for a weekend getaway. The rooms are spacious and did a great job at blocking out the noise below (on Burbon Street). The staff I dealt with directly were helpful, but it was the other staff (cleaning hallways and the like) who were really friendly and fun to be around. The only downside is how expensive the parking is and how long you have to wait to get your car. It is right in the middle of everything and everything has to stop for you to get in and out of the hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You're just a street away from the local art galleries which offer a great way to spend your day. (Royal Street)

Location, cleanliness, customer service.

Side door locks at eleven. Walking around to the front door late at night exposes you to an element you could live without.

The Astor Crowne Plaza was a great hotel. They have many features that make it attractive and a place I will seek out should I return to New Orleans. The location is terrific. It sits on the corner of Canal and Bourbon streets. Room service was great. The hotel restaurant and bar were great. They provide accurate information regarding area events and locations to see. Getting around the city is easy though you really don't need transportation. Many things are within walking distance. I really had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Restaurant Tip : You must try the Charbroiled Oysters at the Acme Restuarant just around the corner from the hotel. They are simply the best.

nothing

I stayed here at the Astor Crowne Plaza about 6 years ago. It's a great hotel in a great location (Canal & Bourbon St). The staff was very friendly. I would recommend asking for a room on the Canal street side if you don't like noise (Bourbon street can't get quite noisy).

Very clean, on Bourbon Street, friendly employees

Valet right on very busy Canal st.

The location is great right on Canal and Bourbon Street - I was worried the area was not safe- never felt unsafe. hotel is very clean and the rooms are big and comfortable. swimmming pool not heated but real nice. Next door to Krystals Burgers - make sure you try them out (similiar to White Castles) Overall if we go to New Orleans again will definately stay at this hotel.

Nightlife Tip : Walk out the side door to Bourbon St. - always felt safe - even with young kids.

Nice hotel, comfortable bed and pillows, great location, very helpful and friendly staff.

Horrible valet parking situation on weekend, rooms on bourbon street side are a bit noisy, poor lighting in bathroom.

The valet parking on weekends is really bad. It took 45 minutes of waiting in line on a Saturday to get the car to the valet. Then if you want to retrieve your car, you are bused to off site parking garage. However, the staff more than made up for this inconvenience and were extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. The hotel overall is in very good condition and very clean. The room was a good size and comfortable for the price of the hotel.

Very satisfied w everything

Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the royal crowne plaza. We visit new orleans at least 2 times a year and stay only at this hotel. We have also referred it to other family and friends. First trip back to new orleans since katrina and the hotel was more beautiful than before!! The friendly service cant be beat. They strive to meet your needs!!

Great location for Mardi Gras or any trip to New Orleans; Bourbon House restaurant

Vending machines for soda/water on the various floors didn't seem to be working; housekeeping staff didn't always replenish items like soap

I arrived early in the morning on the Saturday before Mardi Gras (before check-in time) and the bell captain cheerfully checked by bags so that I could stroll out and enjoy the parades. The bell staff was very helpful during my entire stay. The clerks at the front desk were also very courteous. Any hotel on or near a parade route has to make sure that the lobby and restrooms don't become overwhelmed with non-guests, so they issue wrist bands to guests. I felt that the staff kept an unobtrusive eye on the people entering to make sure who has entering. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New Orleans.

I really liked the location of this hotel. It was centrally located in the french quarter. I was able to check in early but the room I was given was very small, but very clean and nice. I feel that for the money it was an excellent deal!

The hotel couldn't find the reservation for my traveling companions so they were without a room for a couple of hours. The staff worked diligently to resolve the issue however. Other issue that I had was that if I had any visitors they were not allowed inside the hotel without buying a $20 wrist band.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was able to check in early with no problems. The room I was given was rather small but it was very clean. The location of this hotel is ideal. I was in town for Mardi Gras and this hotel is located on the corner of Bourbon and Canal. On the day I checked out, I had a late afternoon flight and was given a complimentary 2 hour late check out. The only issue that I ran into was the hotel visitor policy. Because I was there during Mardi Gras no outside visitors were allowed without buying a $20 per person wristband. I understand and appreciate the need to restrict who enters the hotel; however, at least allowing each guest one or two complimentary wrist bands would not be unreasonable.

Location Location Location Clean, safe, staff is attentive and nice

High valet parking rate

I go through New Orleans a few times a year (for work) and I have stayed at many, so called, nice hotels in the French Quarter. Most are a nightmare.(unsafe, dirty, ripoff). The Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel is different. Very professional and nice. You can find discount rates also. I would recommend 100%!

Restaurant Tip : Restaurant on Iberville called the Country Flame. Great Latin food (Cuban, Mexican, and PR). Almost nothing over $10. Looks like a dump, but is well worth it.
