Stayed here for one night in town and would recommend this to anyone. Easiest to reach from Newark because Penn' Station is right across the street - it's $12.50 to/from Newark. Good quality rooms, recently refurb'd and not too expensive for NYC.

The location is in Mid town, very convenient to access public transport and close to Madison Square Garden. But the hotel lobby was under renovation, most seating areas were closed so that we could not use free wifi in a comfortable way. The room is small and we could hear the sound made by next room when we were using restroom.

The lobby was on renovation, so we had to sit on the stairs or the floor in order to get the wifi, as they don't offer free wifi in the room, which is a major con. It's unexceptable for a so called 4-star hotel not to offer wifi in the room. Or at least a decent place for sitting in the lobby. But the staff is very friendly and efficient and the rooms are newly renovated, spacious and comfortable. Other then the lack of wifi, would recommend!

Our stay at the Affinia was pretty great. The location was great for tourists, easy to walk or catch the Subway anywhere. It is right across the road form Madison Square Garden which was handy when we went to the basketball. There were renovations going on in the hotel but it wasn't too much of a problem. Our bathroom was ridiculously small, yet we had a large office and what I think was supposed to be a walk in wardrobe (a tiny empty room). The space could have been better used in the bathroom ( a large man would struggle to fit in the shower). Overall it was a great central point for our first time to New York.

The Hotel is undergoing an extensive renovation so not everything is working and this may cause some disruption for social travellers. From a business perspective, rooms are comfortable, reasonably priced and is easy to get around NY. It is just down the road from Macy's and opposite Penn Station. It can be noisy depending on time of day but is well sized for its price.

We loved this hotel, checkin/out was fast and efficient. Our room was larger and nicer than we expected, the staff were helpful and friendly and the location of the hotel was perfect for us. I wouldn't recommend the overpriced room service but other than that I would recommend the hotel overall to friends and family. I would definitely stay here again, although I think the prices may rise when the current renovations are completed.
