Algonquin Hotel New York (NY) Info
Famous for its literary affiliations, this official New York City landmark offers a strong sense of history and tradition. Located in midtown between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the Algonquin Hotel is in a pretty, upscale area within walking distance of Times Square, the Empire State Building and Central Park. Once the preferred venue of Dorothy Parker and the Vicious Circle, New Yorker cartoon prints and warm Art Deco interiors decorate The Gonk and writers, actors and Broadway stars hang out in its dining areas to this day. While interiors have just been given a deluxe modern makeover the vintage feel still lingers the Round Table room (where breakfast is served) and the Blue Bar particularly full of 1920s ambience. The hotels resident cat Matilda or perhaps Hamlet casts a sleepy eye over the coming and going of guests.

Great location, helpful staff
Stayed 2 nights in Algonquin Hotel. Great location on 44th between 5th and 6th Avenues and 5 minutes from Grand Central. Staff are extremely helpful and only too pleased to assist. Rooms are a little on the small side but standard for New York. Hotel food and bar were both good. Would stay here again.
