Very enjoyable
Friendly staff, close to amenities and good for budget

If you don't mind a good 30-40 mins walk into the city centre then great, otherwise there is a subway 2 blocks away that will take you to all the sights within 20min. The hotel is basic but i expected nothing less for what we paid! would really recommend,the staff are very helpful and the rooms are decent size. Compared to alot of hotels in the city and for the money we paid we did very well. You can get the air train and subway directly to the hotel which will cost you around $7 - bargain!

Night two - much better, but NO HEAT!

Night two of my stay and I was bumped up to a twin room with a bathroom. Awesome. TV, own toilet. Sweet. No noise (like the previous night) and I was in the other wing. Loved every second of the second night, the room was comfy BUT even when I turned the heat up full it was freezing. Don't know why, it was snowing outside but come on, that little thing would have made my stay perfect.
Staff were awesome one day 2.

i stayed here because i was looking for somewhere cheap, close to times square and i read many reviews that this was a pretty sweet deal. i stayed two nights, first night in the 4 bunk dorm, second in a private twin (which is in a separate review).
first impression of staff - not friendly. this changed with the next shift who were terrific, but, the first chick was kind of rude.
let's do the bad first...
the room smelled like garlic bread (could have been worse) and there were stains on one set of sheets. every 10 minutes for the entire night the door to my wing slammed shut.
the good...
price and location. bathroom was great, bed was comfy. i gave the hostel the benefit of the doubt and think i got a bad room . i'd give the place another crack .my second night was better
