It's a comfortable place to stay in New York close to Central Park but a bit far from Broadway if youre into musicals and plays. Place is clean, staff are cordial.

Basic Hotel but the location is good

It's a very simple hotel, with the most basic of amenities. The room is a bit small, though essentially, you're paying for the location of the hotel.
There are some things to complain about, though: damp smell, stained/worn carpets, peeling walls, noisy heater. But like I said, for it's price, you can live with it.
I was very happy with the hotel's location, as it was right next to a Subway station, and Central Park was just three blocks away. There are some nice cafes/restaurants nearby, so food will never be a problem.
It's a great place to stay at, since you'll be out of the hotel walking around New York for most of the day, and you'll just go home to sleep, bathe, etc.
Restaurant Tip:
From the hotel, just across Broadway, there's the typical NY snack cart that sells cheap food (lamb/chicken over rice for just $5), open until late night/early morning. Also nearby (along Broadway, just at W 96th St) is Two Boots Pizza, and they serve great pizza for cheap.

Affordable Pricing Near the Busy Area

Considered mid range pricing which is situated in the quiet side of New York. Subway station just across the Street. Takes u only 10+ Minutes to reach Times Square through Subway but the hotel stay in Times Square is near 2 times the pricing in Days Hotel. Chinatown/Soho only 20 mins plus away through the Red then yellow line. Pubs are a plenty in little in Little Italy.
Shopping Tip:
Encountered a Macy one day sale on weekends where prices went down as much as 50%! got a CK Jacket for only 1/2 price.

Great Location, Acceptable Price
2 blocks from metro station (Lines 1, 2 and 3), directly close to quick-bite restaurants and coffee shops, directly accessible to cabs on Broadway Avenue

Overall, the stay is comfortable and convenient; however, the price might be more than average. The building and its furniture are old but well maintained, but the bathrooms are spacious and upgraded. In general, the hotel is clean and quite, with some exceptions at different times. All services work properly, from TV to hot water, heating and hair dryer. The most inconvenient feature is the hotel's elevators; they are small, slow and one can miss their locations on the floors easily.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If the heat was off, make sure that the radiator's valve is open. You will know that once the valve starts blowing a little steam. You can always ask the friendly service man there.

The hotel is very good location. 96st can take express train to Time Square very fast. The room look very normal. A bit old but Ok. Good clean bathroom. Safety box in room. Comfort bed. In my room TV volume doesn't work. The elevator very slow. Don't be rush.
