One of black culture's most important NYC landmarks, the YMCA Harlem offers affordable accommodation with good transport links to midtown Manhattan. Opened in 1933, the YMCA Claude McKay Residence is friendly both to families and to budgets, providing clean, private rooms of varying occupancy and a full gymnasium, with heated swimming pool, weights and aerobic center. There's a metro station and bus stop nearby providing quick links downtown, while a diverse array of restaurants and bars can be found in this rapidly gentrified neighborhood. Within walking distance guests will find the Apollo Theater, the shops and brownstones of 125th Street, not to mention the Malcolm Shabazz Market (Malcolm X was, incidentally, once a guest of this YMCA).

Great atmosphere, great staff, very convenient loc
Hostel is clean and not noisy, despite the fact that there are not only tourists, but and residents:)

I liked that a good free wi-fi in the lobby and in the other room a few computers with internet access for a fee, a payphone, and can be purchased touristic cards for 5 and 10 dollars for local calls. Shower and toilet on the floor where I live, but there are advantages, you can enjoy another two additional floors to wash.
Metro two minutes at 135 Street where Lenox Avenue Line (A) and the other side of the hotel B, C where Eighth Avenue and near 145th Street. All nearby when you walk around the hotel (metro, eateries, parks). In any case, this is Manhattan. If you walk along Madison Avenue to Fifth Avenue, then walk to Central Park, and then to Columbus, Broadway and Times Square, and to all that you need.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Harlem in the northern part of the district of Manhattan itself is a sight to see the architecture and lifestyle. A special place. I will visit this hotel again.

From JFK International Airport, take the New York Airport Service bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal (42nd St. Times Square). Cross the street on 8th Avenue and take the M10 bus uptown to 135th Street. Or take the #2 or 3 train to 135th Street & Lenox Avenue. The YMCA is located between Lenox Avenue & St. Nicholas Avenue.
