Good value for money for a budget hotell

A quite pleasant stay with very helpful staff! A special thank you goes out to staff who made our stay better by being the "go to guy" for all our questions!
The room: we booked a "deluxe room" when it in fact was just a standard room - so don't buy the marketing language! The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and towels were changed on a daily basis! Could have done a better job at dusting (we could wipe our finger in dust on the night stands).
Transportation: Easy to take yourself to and from JFK - takes about an hour and the subway is right outside the entrance!
Food and drink: Good selection of restaurants if you go up a block or two. Starbucks is right next door and a lot of grocery stores are close by.
All in all a good budget hotel - if you don't expect a luxury stay you won't be disappointed.

This hotel has a charming lobby and helpful, friendly staff. Coming up from the 1 train at 103rd, the hotel is visible as you get to street level. There is a steep, narrow staircase to get to the lobby, but there was staff right there upon our arrival offering to help us with our bags. Our room was nothing fancy, but reasonably clean with clean linens, plenty of hot water, and relative quiet. My husband needed assistance a couple of times from the hotel staff while I was attending a conference at the Javits Center, and he was impressed with their courtesy and efficiency.
I will admit that I am something of a hick, and feel rather overwhelmed by the cacophonous hustle of Midtown Manhattan. So I found it lovely to stay on the Upper West Side with its broad streets and tasteful urbanity, and was very glad to have booked a stay at Marrakech Hotel.

Great location away from hussel and bussel of times square friendly helpful staff only let down was the heating in the room in central and couldnt be turned on so we had a fan and aircon going to try and balance the room out
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Metro weekly.ticket.is around $ 15 US which was great cause you get on and off sooo many times it gets you onto all trains and buses

my wife and i stayed over to the new year 2013 in nyc. was nice experience with helpful and polite staff.
subway station 1-min walk from hotel. there is no restaurants in the hotel, but there are few restaurants & a convenience store nearby hotel, 2-5 minutes' walk from hotel. there is a star bucks cafe just at entrance of the hotel too.
it will be better if there was internet connection in room. currently, free wifi at lobby. no elevator in hotel but bell boys always available for small fees (excluding tips).
overall, very good experience. will return to hotel if returning to nyc.

I loved the feel of this hotel. Very warm, colourful hotel. The room was small, but it was all I needed as I only spent my time sleeping there. Next to the subway on the Upper West Side, so everything was only a train ride away. Def recommend

came for the nyc marathon. next to the subway very near. 10min walk to central park. food all around the place. great service from front desk. please note there is no lift so need to carry bags up 5 floors max depending on your room. bellboys will help though. old hotel but clean and comfortable.
Restaurant Tip:
Food is available all around the hotel. Checkout the bagel shop on 101st.

Had to get an extra day stay and this hotel managed to fit me in. Nearby subway line 1 which goes all the way to downtown. Good food around the hotel. Near central park If u go for a run.
