Shoreham Hotel, New York (NY)

Overall the hotel was fine for the price. It had a great location, fun bar and great bartender. The rooms were tiny. The bathroom was really small with a rather strange shower (one entire wall was mirrored) with to few towels and no ventilation.

you get the NYC standard fare tiny sized room, but beyond merely the size of the room, it is a great hotel by way of value. This place is primarily about the great location, right on 55th St between 5th and 6th Ave. The rooms are indeed tiny but the fantastic addition of the Human Touch massage chairs more than made up for it. Simply put, this is a fantastic chair! The mattresses were too soft, and made sleep wasn't particularly great, but not complaining too much. Bathroom door wouldn't shut, and the metal sink seemed a bit tacky, but otherwise the bathroom was functional. The rooms were more of a B/B- standard, but clean and comfortable overall. Service was friendly and helpful. All in all, this is more about value for money rather than a luxurious experience. We felt more than happy with the overall package given the location and price (and the great massage chair).

We stayed for 2 nights, it was ok, but our room was a weird mix of luxury and cheapness (for example marble on the bathroom floor but dollar-store quality shower curtain, low-end tiles on the walls, leaky fawcet, tiny impractical sink and door to the bathroom did not close properly). Bedding was nice but the mattress was very very soft; we enquired if all beds were like this but got no answer. They said they could put in a plank to make it firmer but they never did. Otherwise the service was efficient. Some nice deco touches and the room was very quiet. I recommend specifying if you don't want a smoking room. Can't compare to other NYC hotels as I have been there only twice but next time I will try somewhere else.
