Inhabiting an original 1900's building amongst the theaters of Broadway, this boutique European-style property offers quiet luxury in the middle of Manhattan. Located on West 44th a three-minute walk from Times Square, the The Iroquois New York Hotel is close to all the important spots. While cabs are readily available they're not necessary, as Grand Central Station is only a few blocks away and the Empire State Building, MOMA and Fifth Avenue can all be reached within minutes on foot. Guests here are reminded of the hotel's luxury status at every turn: Molton Brown toiletries, fancy chocolates at turndown, Bose radios and free shoe shining are included in the room rate, while newly renovated interiors shine with gold details and expensive linens. Books and DVDs are free to borrow from the Iroquois beautiful wood-paneled library.

We were greeted at the door by the doorman who enthusiastically took our bags for us up to our room. He was quite friendly and full of useful (and honest) information. When telling us about the hotels facilities, he recommended that we not do any laundry on site as it was quite expensive; when I asked him where to buy a prepaid SIM card for use in my overseas cell phone, he knew exactly where to point me.
I know that a lot of people might complain that the rooms are costly and small. But, the hotel is in the middle of Manhattan, a couple of blocks from Times Square. So, the price/size of the room is par for the course. While I would prefer that the cost, at least, is cheaper, I can't really expect otherwise. However, one gets a lot for the money spent. The service is quite friendly, useful, and efficient. The bed was incredibly comfortable (my girlfriend kept complaining that she would miss the bed after we left). They offered free shoe shine service, and gave a complimentary copy of the New York Times hanging from our door knob every morning. The hotel also gave us a free box of Belgian chocolates and a bottle of wine upon check in. They also have a fitness center and provide free hot beverages in the lobby every day.
Also, in spite of the location, the hotel is very quiet for those in need of rest.

Of the many hotels in NYC we have stayed, this was so beautiful, comfortable, and the intimate size was a major plus. What a great rate for a suite! The same price we'd pay at many other hotels for a small room! And what a great suite. We didn't eat in, so can't comment about the food, but judging on everything else, I'm sure it had to be great!
