very friendly and welcoming staff, even serve champagne at check-in. great location, clean but small rooms. never made it to basement bar but ate at attached restaurant-trendy but very good. only complaint is the slow elevators

The Marcel is a wonderful quaint hotel just renovated. The new restaurant Inoteca is a great addition to this simple and beautiful hotel. My stay here has been delightful and the location is perfect! Just minutes away from Union Square, 34th street and Harold's Square it provides a great option to stay between Midtown and Downtown.
Travel tip:
Great location for cocktails: whether you want to stay in, walk along 3rd avenue or "star-watch" at the Grammercy Hotel's Rose Bar you are within walking distance.
