Great location and an absolutely stunning building.

Rooms are shabby and for the price, small. Breakfast is expensive ($35 per person for full buffet) and limited!!

Wouldn't stay there again!!! It's a real shame!!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Grey Line bus tour was well worth it!! We did the 72 hour upgrade so we could spread it out as it's a lot to do in 2 days!

Great location Reasonably sized room Friendly staff

Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room

Staying at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel really enhanced our New York City experience. Ideally located close to the shopping and theatre districts, it was ideal to pop back to relax in the afternoon, before venturing out again. The room was comfortable and the beds a nice size. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be staying at the Waldorf Astoria again on our next trip to the 'Big Apple'.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take the Grayline Bus Tours. Great way to see as much of the city as possible in a short space of time. The 48 hour ticket should be enough.

Excellent location, friendly, welcoming staff. Clean, quiet room.

Can be quite a queue to check in on Fridays.

Two girlfriends and I recently stayed at the Waldorf Astoria (w/end 18-20 Sept 09)and we were pleasantly surprised at how friendly and accommodating such a large hotel was. On arrival at our room we were greeted with a telephone call to see if there was any additional information required; restaurant suggestions/bookings, supermarket locations, etc. and after requesting a later check-out, were informed we could leave at 1pm instead of the standard 12pm experienced at most other hotels. The room itself was rather spacious by Midtown New York standards and as we had requested an upper floor room, very quiet. Regarding hotel facilities, we only experienced the Bull and Bear bar which frankly could use a warmer reception (bar staff were especially terse for some reason - don't expect a smile) but produced two, rather well made Cosmopolitans. Prices were what can be expected of such establishments however as there was no bar menu it may come as a surprise to some when the bill arrives. The Concierge desk was very well informed and provided some interesting suggestions for evening entertainment (ask them to add you to any guest lists for popular clubs/bars). Overall the quality and standard of public areas was excellent and the hotel generally well staffed. We also felt very safe, although as we were staying at the beginning of the UN Summit on climate change, with Mr Obama staying at the hotel along with other UN dignitaries, we rather felt this may have had a little to do with it. (The Secret Service discreetly made their presence known.) Would highly recommend staying at the Waldorf to any new to New York City. Its location, close to Central Park, 5th and Madison Avenues, Radio City Music Hall, Rockerfeller Centre and walking distance of the Empire State building (approx. 20 mins) is a real boon to those who prefer not to use the subway.

Nightlife Tip : Whiskey Blue - bar situated at the W Hotel directly behind was nice for a nightcap. Comfort Diner for brunch, highly recommended - try the french toast.
