Friendly helpful staff. Easy to reach and to get around town from. Clean well looked after rooms. Stylish lobby area.

wsh is on the north side of washingon sq, in greenwich village, between west and east villages - and just north of soho all easy walking distance - so it has a great location. the staff are all very welcoming and helpful.
the hotel has a bar and downstairs a restaurant (although apart from breakfast we didn't eat in - so i can't comment on the food)
i travelled with my teenage daughter. we had a twin room with a city view and it suited our needs very well. perhaps not the largest room ever - but not small either. it was very clean.
free internet meant i could keep up with work easily.
all in all a very good stay - better than other nyc hotels i have stayed in before. i will go back there.

Our travel agent recommended and booked the Washington Square Hotel Greenwich Village New York, and we couldn't have been happier. We loved the location, such a trendy area with an eclectic mix of locals, a great viba with lots of cafes, restaurants and boutique shopping at your doorstep. The rooms aren't huge but more than adequate and the bathrooms were more than functional for our needs. The included continental breakfast provided each morning was enough to get the day started. And the staff were all very pleasant and helpful with their knowledge and tips on the area and New York in general. We definately recommend this hotel booked through Agoda at a great rate.

Gorgeous hotel in a great location in Greenwich

We had a great stay at the Washington Square Hotel. It is in an easy to access location with the subway stop not too far away. The Italian restaurant across the road called Babbo is amazing. Try the Gnocchi. Greenwich village is a great area to stay if you want to be close to bars & many restaurants but dont want to be surrounded by tourists.

Historic hotel in key location but pricey

This restored boutique hotel is very clean and comfortable, however, the rooms are quite small. Nonetheless,if you are into music and literary history, this is a great hotel and location to spend a night or two. Famous residents have included Bob Dylan and Joan Baez (among many others). The location is perfect (walking distance from all the main sights of Greenwich Village and almost directly across from the Washington Square park and monument). Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you can stomach dishing out a few hundred dollars (this "IS" NYC)for a rare experience.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
I recommend the Literary Pub Crawl (http://literarypubcrawl.com/). Meets every Saturday (2:00 pm) at the historic White Horse Tavern.

This hotel was fantastic just far enough away from the hustle and bustle and right near heaps of great restaurants. Ronny greeted us from the moment we arrived and made our stay so much fun, he is the nicest guy. We even got to meet one of the owners and he was really helpful and down to earth. I would definitly recommend this Hotel as it was really clean great service and a great location :)
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Don't be scared to catch the underground as it is safe and affordable and close to the hotel.

We arrived late at night and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The room was a little small but adequate and the thick walls meant that we had a totally silent room. It also provided extra shelf room to put things on.
The concierge was always ready to help us with information about subway stations, opening times of shops etc.
When we went to pick up a car from JFK, the staff were extremely helpful in organising the best way for us to get there.
The area had restaurants, shops and of course the beautiful park.
We had a lovely time at this hotel.
