Good Alternative to Staying in NYC
Close to Newark Penn Station
Within walking distance to Newark Penn Station (and they actually offer a shuttle if you don't to make the short walk). They also offer a free shuttle from Newark Airport.

Reasonable Hotel
Restaurant, location, shuttle service to Newark airport
This hotel was recommended by a friend who works at Rutgers University nearby. The hotel is within walking distance from the school and Newark Penn Station. They have a shuttle service from and to the Newark airport every half hour. (They don't pick or and drop you off at your terminal. You need to take AirTrain to P4 Station for hotel courtesy vans. ) What was a pleasant surprise was the restaurant 'Maize' located in the hotel. If you are solo female traveler, you might not feel very safe to walk around the area after dark, and having a good hotel restaurant helps. Overall it was a good stay

Cheaper alternative to staying in Manhattan
Cheaper Alternative
was there just to catch a transfer from ewr to jfk. i arrived late in ewr so it really good that the hotel has a free airport shuttle. its actually quite convenient to get around with the newark penn station just a 10-15 walk away. but there are hardly any convenience stores that open a night in the area.

Great Hotel 20min from Midtown Manhattan
Perfect Location to visit Manhattan
the best western robert treat is located very close to newark penn train station. from there you have every few minutes a train (nj transit) to the heart of manhattan ( ny penn station) which takes you there in less than 20 min. the hotel is more than 90 years old and had already famous guests like einstein and kennedy. it is beautifully renovated and has very comfortable rooms which all amenities which you expect. free wired and wireless internet. free shuttle to newark airport ewr and newark penn station every 30 min. to penn station by walking less than 10 min. the free breakfast is very good and the hotel personnel very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, friendly staff
Value for money
quite close to newark airport. due to late flight arrival and early departure (by car) the next day, this hotel had a very good location for us. small rooms, but more than enough for one night. not likely to stay for longer time - then we'd prefer a larger room. breakfast, wi-fi and parking included. breakfast very simple, and too much sweet pastries and cereals and less healty alternatives. even so - a good experience!
