Travellers who want to get out and see the main sites of the city won't be disappointed with Hotel Stratford: there's a streetcar stop right outside the hotel, plenty of taxis and--for day trips to Sonoma, Muir Woods, Berkeley, Sausalito, Napa, etc.--all sorts of car rentals. From the hotel, Chinatown and North Beach (w/ great Italian cafes) are a short walk. Shoppers will be happy staying a day or two in Union Square itself, with Saks, Macy's and many more shops and boutiques, a range of restaurants for any taste, and lounges for those wanting to enjoy a late night cocktail after a long day in the stores.
Restaurant Tip : For a luscious meal or a leisurely afternoon or late-night drink in beautiful surroundings, try the Grand Cafe (and its bar area, the Petite Cafe), located near Hotel Stratford.
