Not worth the money
Downtown location, one nice front desk employee, a place to sleep

The hotel is freshly painted, they got rid off the restaurant and the bathroom is on the floor to share with everybody.
This is a hostel standard and not worth the money!
No parking lot is available and the car has to stay in the public garage for 32 dollars per day.

there is no desk to use for work or any chairs to sit. The remote control light and fan just keep going on and off during night time when other rooms tried to use lights. No sound proof at all when next room used their toilet. I heard their TV and conversation, and very annoying.

If you're looking for a budget hotel in SF union square area, the herbert hotel is the ideal hotel. Apart from being located in the heart of the shopping area with Macy's across the street and Westfield shopping centre within 5 min walking distance, the SF cable car terminal and MUNI train station are just down the road.
As it is a budget hotel, do not expect to see nice and posh lobby or room. The room is clean and comfortable enough just for the night. The hotel only has one elevator and so patience is required if you stay at the upper level.

SEEING A FEW BAD REVIEWS ON THE SITE ACTUALLY MADE ME PREPARED MYSELF BEFORE MY ARRIVAL. HOWEVER, UPON STAYING AT THE HERBERT MYSELF, I DONT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM FACED. MAYBE IT'S A TIMING ISSUE. OVERALL, I'M HAPPY WITH THE HOTEL & WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN IF I TRAVEL TO SFO. HAD ALSO RECOMMENDED THIS HOTEL TO MY FRIENDS & FAMILY WHO ARE TRAVELLING TO SFO. THERE WAS NO BREAKFAST HENCE, UNABLE TO RATE THEM. BUT THERE ARE ALOT OF CAFE AROUND THE HOTELS.
