Location, bed, quaint hotel..
empty area at nite,.... so use head and use cabs
The Phoenix is a nice comfortable hotel in a great location acrosss the street from Union Station....Directly attached is The Dubliner which had The Guiness Burger and that was great!!!!...THe hotel is old in age which makes it unique expecially the old elevaator...The room I had was very small which is my only negative, but I didnt go to Washington to spend day in room...The bed was GREAT!!!! I cant remember when I have ever woke up and was so comfortable ,I didnt want to get up...If anything , that will make me go back next year....Area is OK near the station, but not to walk around after dark as it is pretty empty area at nite.....so I do recommend this hotel for its price and location to Union Station, but it is a distance to WHite House area...

service was very attentive and accommodating--they moved us to a different room after our initial one was not ready with a better view at no extra charge.
very clean as well.
the lobby size needs improvement as do the elevators--very small
after my initial visit, i have returned several times ot the same level of hospitality and service. i highly recommend the hotel plus it's one block from union station which is very convenient.

Room was nice, location great, staff uniformly friendly.
Room small \nStaff nice but disorganized
An hour after I got there my door opened and a maintenance guy stuck his head in without knocking. Seems he thought the floor was empty. Then at checkout a $4.80 charge fro water appeared and then was credited like three times on my bill. Also, although they had printed my boarding pass for me the night before they couldn't find it when I checked out. I had to come back a couple of hours later to get it. Took me 20 minutes to check out. Room was quite small, too. OK for me there alone, but if two people would have had to time walking past the bed. With all that, I'd stay there again.
