Great stay in the heart of MIrissa
The staff were friendly and accommodating, the location was perfect, the service was excellent
Our stay at Number One was very good. The hotel is perfectly located on the beaches of Mirissa and although there is no direct beach access from the hotel itself, a short 10meter walk outside the hotel and you are on the beach. The pool is a perfect alternative to the beach. The food was fine - nothing spectacular, but excellent to have a good breakfast included in the room rate. The room was comfortable with a large king bed and ocean view (Which we didnt realise we would have). I would say that the hotel conditions are getting a bit shabby. I'm not sure you'll ever get true luxury in Sri Lanka, so this might be the next best thing - certainly nicer than most of the other hotels we've seen. But the bathroom itself had some cracks and mold, the linens had some stains. But, in comparison to other hotels, this might be luxury standard in Sri Lanka. It didn't impact our stay in the least, and i was happy to pay a slight premium by sri lankan standards to stay here. I'd certainly return and looking forward to our next visit!

Avoid at all costs
Location and staff
It is massively overpriced for what it is, it's very tired and it's not luxury or boutique hotel in any way!!! Their website tells lies: there are no peacocks, no turtles, no direct beach access!!! What they don't tell you that they have a massive noise problem from the beach bars holding outdoor discos all night long. Sleep is impossible! When we complained they told us it is a longstanding problem that they can do nothing about due to police corruption. It's too late to be told this when you're already there and paid your money. If you want to get any sleep on your holiday, do not go to this hotel or any hotel in Mirissa. This hotel's only redeeming features are the friendliness of the staff and the nice location but even this becomes meaningless after 10 nights with no sleep. The rooms are OK but very basic and very tired. Toiletries are provided on arrival but are not replenished unless on request. The toilet seat was hanging off, the shower is a trickle, the electrical socket in the bathroom is falling off the wall. There are big holes in the mosquito nets, the small sofa in the room is full stains, some days you get a bath mat, others you don’t. Some days you get only small towels, others only the big ones and often with the holes and stained. The tea and coffee is being replaced only when they remember and to boil a kettle you have to do it on the floor. Many of the sunbeds are broken. The toilet by the pool wasn't clean and the towel was dirty. The food is OK but very limited in choice. There is a huge hole at the end of the swimming pool around 5 feet deep that we were told was originally going to be a jacuzzi but it was never fitted. The pool tiles are very slippery when wet and young kids could easily fall into this hole and sustain a serious injury. The bar area is extremely scruffy being full of boxes of stock and crates of empty beer bottles. This hotel is worth 1/3 of the price they charge factor in the noise issue then it's actually worth nothing!!!

Beautiful location but overpriced
Location, garden
Although quaint it's rather expensive for what you get.

Excellent location
The food, the location, the setting
I think they should have better towels (ove-washed ones are not 4* quality) They should also provide conditioner and body lotion as other 4* hotels do. Bathroom was not finished to high quality. All staff very helpful. Chef excellent!

Overpriced and in need of a refurb.
Spectacular view, salt water infinity pool, staff
This is a very comfortable hotel with attentive staff and attentive relaxing atmosphere. However it certainly is not 4 star and it it considerably over priced. There may have been a time when it was 4 star and justified the price it charges, but it has a lot of work to do to regain this. We paid £70 a night and did this because it was our last few nights in SL and wanted some 'luxury'. We were dissapointed. The hotel was damp, and had seen better days. Whilst it was set away from the main beach you could still hear bass music from the beach bars throughout the night. We had come from Jetwing Yala where we'd paid £10 more per night and the 2 are not even comparable. Despite all this it was a nice comfortable stay with nice food and stunning views.

Perfect relax
Amazing location, nice room, perfect ajuverdic soap and shampoo.
I really enjoyed Number One. Perfect hotel, even better than some 5* hotels. Prices are little bit high, but in the hotel are only few rooms and you can have privacy.

Fantastic location
Location, location, location
This hotel has the best location on Mirissa beach. It's a pretty building in a lovely seeing that is shielded by trees. It has a lovely pool and sun terrace overlooking the sea and all the rooms have balconies and terraces. Unlike some ugly developments it doesn't dominate the surrounding area. You can slip through a door and down some steps onto the very end of the beach from where you can walk down to join the other tourists but while you suit at the pool you don't have lots of other tourists walking by. The hotel has a nice relaxed beach vibe. We thought it was one of the best hotels we stayed in while in Sri Lanka.

Nice place to stay
It's a nice place to stay, but need to walk through the rocks to the beach.
