clean but dark, small and cramped

location, cleanliness
I was very disappointed. As a disabled traveler I was frustrated by a 2nd floor room without a working elevator. The room was very small with an even smaller bathroom. The bed was hard and reminded me of a futon mattress. Lighting in the room was pathetic. It was like a cave.

We had breakfast every day in the diner. YUM!

Diner, location, pool
It was good for what we could find at the last minute. The diner was the perfect for breakfast with really good coffee and pancakes. Service was great!

Stay Away From this place!

We no longer ever have to stay here again
The place was so dirty, low end and when we returned to our room after a full day working a convention our room was still not re-maid. We did put the "make our room" sign on the door but it was not. We had enough and actually paid for another room at a new hotel and got out of there as soon as we could regardless of having to pay for two rooms for the same night. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Grungy redeux of an even grungier Freemont hotel

Location near Freemont street
It was first an expensive reservation. We booked last minute on a weekend during a grand opening of another casino, etc. It was about 10% less money per night. It was because of this lower rate, that I chose the Oasis at the Gold Spike. The pool was empty. It was nice in that it had dual waterfalls and looked clean and blue. The pool was empty because the staff had turned up the music so loud that the speakers were distorting and could be heard easily from the parking lot and probably as much as few blocks away. I'm a rocker. I even LIKED the music they were playing, a local Las Vegas rock radio show. But dude, it was so amazingly loud that it was RUINING the owner's speakers. It was just so silly that NO ONE would want to go to the pool, no one. Not me, not those guys over there. NO ONE. Silly because the pool actually looked very nice, but during the two nights we were there, NO ONE used the pool. Management: get a clue. Control your staff. This isn't a night-club rave. The room was sparsely decorated with new paint, a nice color scheme, and a nice LCD TV. The room was lacking floor mats, wash cloths, and some of the blinds were bent or missing. The air conditioner was loud. The toilet got plugged up from normal use. There was hair in the tub. The phone didn't work. We asked to be moved to another room for our second night and found the beds to be much better. Our first room had rock-hard beds that were downright uncomfortable! Still missing basic amenities like soap and towels. The little restaurant inside the Oasis is very good and we went back 2x

Clean room

Clean room and cheap cafe
It located at the old city centre of Las Vegas. Good location if you would like to walk around in downtown Las Vegas but far from the Stripe, about 7 miles away from end of the Stripe. Clean room. There is one small casino next to reception. But not many parking lots in the car park. It took us sometime to find a parking lot. Cafe downstairs serves cheap food.

Good location and service

service, convenience, clean, quiet
Basic room - not much for amenities, but clean and quite. Booked room for 3 nights. Plan to stay there again.

Good Value for your Money

The rooms for the price in vegas, I think they are the nicest cheapest rooms you'll get without comps/booking way in advance :)
Close to the DUECE so you can go to the new strip if you want to. 4-5 walk to the Duece at the beginning of the ole strip. I hate the slot machines at the casino you have have to wait for a cashier to give you your cash out of the machine, very odd...... But the pool is decent :)

Small Hotel in Downtown Vegas

Nightly Rate
if you're used to staying at the "big" hotel/casinos in vegas, then this place will surely disappoint you. if you don't mind staying in a smallish hotel/motel a little distance from the "action" then maybe you should give this place a try, if only because the nightly rate is so low. for myself, i will never stay at this hotel again. it's only a couple of blocks from the fremont street experience, but in this area of downtown, i just wouldn't want to be walking a couple of blocks in the dark, for safety reasons.
