Weekend Business Overnighter
Stunning Location, Efficiency of Staff, Comfortable at Affordable Price
I had a brief but very pleasant stay at the Columba. The owners are obviously working hard to update it and it provided a very comfortable stay away from home on business over the weekend. Breakfast was generous and tasty. The dining area was perhaps a little overcrowded regarding the proximity of tables to each other as a lady of larger build struggled to sit comfortably at the table next to mine however the staff member could have directed her to a more spacious table as several were available. All in all I'd visit again.

The Columba
The location, the friendly staff, the scenery.
The Columba was a really nice hotel to stay in, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Only down side was, we would have been £40 less had we booked direct. But lessons learned. Will stay again.

Disapointing
The very helpful lady on reception
No more than adequate. Dont believe the parking info. 8 spaces for a 40 room hotel. You need to pay for parking on the peir. £12 day. Very misleading website

wonderful from start to finish
the staff, the breakfast and the central location
Wonderful, even the terrible weather couldn't spoil it. Every member of staff couldn't do enough for you. They recommend great bars and restaurants. I was shocked at the low price for what i considered to be a pretty good room and my very hungry partner was more than satisfied by the breakfast. Its clearly a busy hotel so the self service buffet breakfast worked well and the staff kept it fully stocked.

Interesting
location, comfort, views
Concierge was friendly and informative. Lift was antiquated, but worked. Plumbing in bathroom quite old fashioned. Bar staff friendly and welcoming. Restaurant staff, although courteous and efficient, overlooked a complaint about food (one meal was burnt in places).

A Decent if Not Great Hotel
Speed of check-in, location, room size
This is a decent enough hotel for travelers coming to Oban or as a nighttime stopover before heading to the Hebrides - the room was clean and very big (perhaps unnecessarily so), and it had a generously-sized bathroom with a bath and a good shower. I can't really comment on breakfast or the restaurant since my late arrival and early departure stopped me sampling either, but there was a bar with food as well as a normal restaurant available (and a wonderful seafood restaurant next door!) Oban is a small town and everything is centrally located from this hotel, so don't have any worries there. There is also free WiFi, but it's a bit slow. My only real complaint would be the soundproofing of the rooms which is pretty poor (I could hear the guest directly upstairs from me walking around and even the guest next door snoring!). I can't stress enough how minor this is (and certainly it's nothing after some of the hostels and capsule hotels I've stayed in) but it bears noting. To sum up, if you want a decent, reasonably-priced but not particularly luxurious hotel, then this one is worth a look.
