Beautiful place by the lake

The location, the garden and view of Mt. Fuji
The room was spacious and clean. The 5th floor observation deck was quiet and had a stunning view of the lake and Mt. Fuji. I found out that there weren't any restaurants open late nearby, so by default we ate at the Japanese restaurant in the hotel. It was great! Delicious and great service in English! The shuttle to the port was quick and convenient. The hot spring bath was also great, the massage chairs in the changing rooms were a nice touch. Not the best view of nature in the men's bath, but still relaxing.

Old, dated, bad upkeep and poor service

The view from the window.
Bell bow rolled his eye when I asked for help with the luggage. Central area, especially those outside my room was poorly kept with stained carpets and stale cigarette smell. Very small room with furniture from the 70s. No complementary bottle water in our room and for a $400 a night hotel that's bad. For the included breakfast we chose the Japanese option and asked for coffee along with the breakfast. When we were walking out they chased after us to bill us for the coffee LOL!

Isolated and Expensive

Location by the lake, high quality service, high-end dining
The standard room was rather dreary and worn, especially considering the high rate. The restaurants are good and the staff service is excellent, but also very expensive. The hotel is in a very nice location on Lake Ashi. However, it is not easy to get to from major train stations (one hour local bus ride from Odawara over a mountain road). There is very little to do in Motohakone and everything closes up early. Maybe it's more active in the summer season.

Fantastic lake views, challenging to reach hotel

Hotel views, clean, feels exclusive
Amazing lake views, good onsen and hotel restaurant and classy night lounge. Car is a must to places to / fro hotel as it's on mountain. Avoid driving after 6pm as the night turns dark and road lights are poor with curvy lanes.

Older hotel in green surrounding close Lake Ashi

Onsen, nice hotel park, older establishment
Very nice park around the hotel close to lake Ashi. Not so convenient for public transport. It's better to have a car to move around. For good walkers no problem. Nice onsen that is subsidized by sky-rocket prices for meals, especially dinner. In this regard no value for money. Decent quality though. We went to the small town close by for meals. Clean but older facility.

Picturesque hotel

Very nice garden, very nice view of Mt. Fuji from the room and nice onsen
Enjoyed the retreat-like experience in Odakyu. We enjoyed the garden and the nice view of both Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, Also enjoyed the comfy room and onsen.
