Weekend in Phnom Penh

The staff, the location and the rooms

The team at One Up Banana make staying there like being at home. We stayed over ANZAC weekend and had a dawn service to attend at 5am on the Saturday. The team organised a tuk tuk for us when we requested it late the night before and then were up to see us off in the morning. Such a great group of people, a lovely little hotel and an awesome location.

Great place to stay in Phnom Penh - their tagline says it all - "Home sweet home" Very comfortable, very quiet - the staff is all smiles and very helpful. Room was spotlessly clean and serviced that way every day over our 4 day stay. I rated their food/dining as 1 star only because there is no "Not Applicable" (NA) as we did not eat in the hotel - note to hotel maybe you should have a breakfast included option - I really do not like going out for breakfast and honestly the offered extra cost breakfasts are pricey.

Charming and polite

the hospitality (free refreshing drink upon arrival and beautiful scarf upon departure), great neighborhood, sweet roof deck
9.3
We loved our stay at One-Up Banana. A friend recommended it and he couldn't have been more spot on. The hotel was quite clean and comfortable (note to guests: It's a walk up; there's no elevator, but not too many flights of stairs) and the staff was lovely and went out of their way to help with directions, tuk tuk "reservations," etc. We were upgraded to the penthouse suite for some reason free of charge, and loved the room. Though we were worried about noise from the roof deck at night, we didn't experience a problem. Maybe the other guests didn't know about the deck or they were just respectful. In any case, great room with a closet to hang your clothes (if you should need to), a large-ish bathroom with glass separator and tiny step down for the shower (a nice change from the all-in-one bathrooms we had throughout Laos and the rest of Cambodia), plenty of outlets and a full-length mirror. Mini bar (in our room; not sure about the other rooms). The sweetest surprise was receiving two scarves upon departure. A generous gesture and a lovely stay, for sure! The only small complaint we had was that the hotel's location was a bit tricky to find and the directions on Agoda, etc., should be more explicit (i.e. "tell your tuk tuk driver it's next to the Patio Hotel at the end of an alley or else they won't be able to find it. Ours drove around for a long while and tried to charge us extra because he couldn't find it.)

Ok accommodation

The staff were friendly. The room was clean.

It was ok but we had spent 4 nights at another guesthouse which was fantastic. The room did smell a bit dampy and there was no natural light in the room. It was comfortable but I wouldn't want to do more than a couple of days here.

A superb hotel in Phnom Penh

freindly staff; quiet area; excellent room

I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and it was the best accommodation experience during my two-week trip to the country. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I received a free bottle of water and at check out I was given a traditional Cambodian krama scarf as a gift. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was spotless. The building is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

First time in Phnom Penn, booked hotel pick up from airport as we didnt know where we were going!.The hotel itself is lovely, very friendly staff and quite a nice room.It had a seperate kitchenette, the bedroom a little small but more than adequate for our 2 night stay. Very clean, comfy beds and very helpful staff who arranged a driver to take us down to Sihnoukville, he was excellent.

Great place with amazing staff.

The friendliness of the staff, close to some good cafes, not far from central PP

Great! The staff really made my stay. From organising a Tuk Tuk driver for a day to explore the sights, to advising on a sunset 'cruise' across the Mekong on a local passenger ferry (absolutely brilliant and dirt cheap). Helping with organising a bike tour on short notice and I liked the way they were supporting their staff - my Tuk Tuk driver was getting English lessons of an evening. Room was clean, and while they didn't have a set breakfast like most guest houses do (though you can get a room service breaky), they were happy to advise where the good local places were. And they have a terrace on the roof which you can use to chill out on. Very pleasant stay in Cambodia's hectic capital.
