stunning hotel

location, rooms, restaurant
cannot fault this hotel, everything superb, from friendly efficient staff at check in to cleanliness, location, food and pool. Had guests for dinner in restaurant and had a great night and very reasonable price. Right in centre of town with lots to see and do nearby.

nice hotel in wine country

charming, perfect location
the hotel is obviously undergoing a bit of renovation at the moment. you've got this lovely-19th century with a modern appendage currently being sewn on which is a bit odd, but whatever. the internet connection is poor even by south african standards ... you get a 1,2 or 24-hour voucher that seems to expire in 2 minutes regardless. breakfast was fantastic. perfect location for exploring the wine country.

Great Hotel. Wonderful service. Super location

The history, oldest inn in SA. Wonderful room (#4) with great bathroom. Marvellous breakfast (the best rusks we have eaten)
this is a hotel that we hope to return to on our next sa vacation and will recommend it to our children and friends. ther front desk staff were extremely helpful and helped with arrangements like a taxi to take us and all our baggage (we travel heavy!) the breakfast was equal to the best that we have had served to us. the whole wheat bread, whole wheat rusks, wonderful selection of fresh fruit, and all the rest was delicious. needless to sat, the service at breakfast was superb.
Travel tip: We only had one night in Stellenbosch. Not nearly enough. This is a towwn and a hotel that warrants more time

Great Hotel with Character

It's the oldest hotel in South Africa, and is an absolutely charming place
I absolutely adored the hotel. The hotel is the oldest (built in 1802) hotel in South Africa, and it has a classical style with beautiful courtyard which is used as part of the restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the price is quite reasonable. the charming character of this hotel will make you feel comfortable and at home. I really enjoyed having breakfast at the hotel.
Travel tip: It is located in the center of a charming wine country town Stellenbosch. The area is very safe, and everything in the town is within a walking distance. We rented a car and drove to places like Capetown (50 minutes drive), Cape Penninsula (70 minutes drive), and of course vineyards in the area. Highly recommend having lunch or early dinner (before sunset) at the wine estates.

Exceptional Traditional hotel

Full of character in centre of attractive part of town. Good service and food.
A very good hotel with helpful staff. The building is very old and of historical significance but the accomodationhas been modernised to very high standards. It was a very pleasant stay and staff were extremely helpful even to the extent of the car being washed overnight. We had a slight problem finding the hotel due to one way streets and some difficulty finding road names.

Optimal für ein Stellenbosch-Erlebnis.

Perfekte Lage, Innenhofzimmer sehr ruhig, kolonialer Charme.
Lediglich durch ein etwas kleines Zimmer getrübt..

Goede locatie,kamers ok,
