Metro Hotel Tower Mill, Brisbane

After check in we found the room allocated to us rather small and with a view over the carpark. As we were only in Brisbane for two days, I asked if we could change rooms. We were offered an upgrade to a suite at a reasonable rate which we accepted - view was a little better, but room was large comfortable and well appointed. We paricularly lliked the refillbale containers in the bathroom for shampoo etc - very easy to use and much better than fiddly little bottles. We enquired about airport transfers, and the friendly staff offered to book the bus for us, and mentioned that it was a cheaper alternative to a taxi. The restaurant facilities were a little basic - more like a sports bar, but as the hotel w2as probably mostly used by businessmen, then it was suitable. We preferred to eat dinner elswhere, but the breakfast was very acceptable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a budget stay in a slightly quirky place in Brisbane - the hotel is round, echoing the shape of the windmill next door, therefore the rooms are wedgeshaped. It is next to a hospital and carpark and was quite noisy at night. Reasonably close to centre and within walking distance of shops/river. Would suit couples, not families. probably justifies its 3 star status.

breakfast too expensive- but very good food in restaurant, nice restaurant with tables outside, also a billiard table, nice for the kids.

Nice place. Good for budget travelers.
