Broome
Located in Western Australia, Broome is a tourist town with a population that doubles to 30,000 during the tourist season. One of the fastest growing cities in Australia, Broome is famous for its mining and pearl harvesting.
You can fly direct from several Australian cities such as Perth and Darwin. After reaching your chosen Broome residence, you can travel throughout the area by either bus or a rented car. And with some of the tours you are able to ride a camel, take a cruise by boat, or admire the land from above in a helicopter.
Accommodations in Broome are plenty and booking starts and fills early during the months of May to September.
There are two beaches-Cable and Roebuck, the former being Australia’s most famous nude beach. Cable Beach is also the only Australian beach to be considered as one of the top five beaches of the world. Watching the sunset while taking a camel ride on the beach is another popular activity here, fully clothed of course. Also of interest is the natural phenomenon ‘staircase to the moon”, where the moon's reflection off the water is at such an angle, creating a mirrored effect which looks like a set of stairs. The stairs appear on certain dates between March and September.
If you want to experience the local haunts check with the staff of your Broome hotel. Guaranteed they’ll recommend Riddell Beach, where the tides can reach up to 10 meters, but during low tide you can find dinosaur footprints in the sand. This is just what you’ll find above water, what exists underneath the surface is world class diving amongst beautiful coral, its wildlife and the eerie sunken wrecks of WW II.
