Old style hotel but very clean room; staff are very friendly; I got free room upgrade with nice city view.

The hotel was refurbishing its entrance so a bit nosiy for low-level floors. As a result, I got my room upgraded to level 9, which has a very nice city view. The hotel is very close to beach and the reef fleet terminal (about 5-min walk). There is a night market around the corner of hotel and lots of shops. My trip was mainly for the great barrier reef and I don't want to stay in backpackers, so this hotel is my optimal choice: confort, easy access, and good price.

Comfortable stay and attentive staff.
When I complained that the hot water ran in "bursts" your staff changed my room to a comparable one without a question. Then I found that the hot water was the same in the new room ! The frn

Booked the Pacific for one night as we were heading to the airport from Palm Cove, very early, and decided to stay in Cairns overnight so we could catch the plane at a not so terrible hour...
Good location right near the esplanade, down the very furtherest end, which is nice and quiet, yet not far to walk to all the action. Great value for money I thought.
The rooms are getting a little tired, but everything was fine. It smelt strongly of chlorine when we first entered, so we aired it by opening the balcony and it was fine.
The major issue I have with this place is the CRAZY LOUD MUSIC PIPED in front of the elevator!!! Arghhhh! Our room was right in front of the elevator and ALL NIGHT LONG they pump music through the speakers and you could hear it crystal clear in our room. It kept hubby up all night. It was CRAZY! When we checked out we told the concierge and he said quite a few people complain about it... So my tip is, when you check in, make sure you get a room that is FAR away from the elevators!!!!! Otherwise you'll be having a party in your room all night with high energy beats blaring through your door. Because of this, I probably wouldn't stay here again.
