Great location for GBR traveling

friendly service. nearby pier to go to gbr. i can travel to snokelling easily. but there are many pub under my room, it's quite noisy. if travel with infant is not good. anyway close the door can help. it's very convenience for walking see around cairns center such as lagoon, night market , casino and good restaurant.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go to curanda zoo to see local animal and buy some souvenirs from there. You can try boomerang and see aborigine's show.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff

We stayed in the hotel for two nights. We went on to Mareeba for two nights. After that we were supposed to take a flight to Brisbane. As our flight is in the afternoon, we were already in Cairns early in the morning. We wanted to shop in Cairns but we have our luggage with us. We asked the staff of Shangri-La if we can put our luggage with the concierge, she agreed after checking that we were guests before and allowed us. We are indeed grateful.

豪州のホテルはグローバルなランクから，ワンランク下と聞いていました。そのいみでは，確かにそうかなと思いました。でも，相対的にはOK。壁が薄かったのかな。あと，クルージングに参加するにはベストポジションでしょう。仕事だったので，プールにも入れず残念でした。日本語対応できるスタッフも居ました。

Unfortunately was unable to travel due to my wife being rushed to Hospital. The stay could not be changed/ delayed and all costs paid in advance was lost.
Travel tip:
Don't book a non refundable non changeable room rate.

Nice hotel with great rooms. Breakfast has a good level of choice but is expensive if not included.
Hotel pool looks beautiful but is freezing cold.
Rooms were serviced very late in the day as we were so far down the corridor.

Very old hotel with outstanding service

hotel is very old, it looks like a three stars hotel not a five stars. Very disappointed as what I expected is a really good five stars hotel. This should be the worst shangri-la hotel in the world I guess. Of course the service is still five stars.

Great location, some good and some not so good

Great hotel, clean room, reception staff were great in resolving our issue with two single beds joined to form a king one where we had our little one sleeping in the middle, horizon breakfast was good and staff were excellent. In room service seemed to be disjointed and not on time.... For eg We requested for a warm glass of milk in the morning about 9ish but we had to leave at 10.30 and found a glass waiting 5.00 pm when we returned...not sure how long it was outside...yet were charged for it. In room food was inedible to say the least. However, on the great side of things, rooms were cleaned regularly and it was great to have balcony overlooking the marina and quite spacious and spotless bathroom with a decent bath as well. Toileteries provided were excellent even though we used our own. Glad that they included a hair comb! Valet staff were excellent in bringing our lugage to and from our car. Parking is charged at a premium but hassle free. Overall, if you avoid in room service .... Food specifically, you will enjoy the horizon club rooms thoroughly.
Restaurant Tip:
Good restaurants all around the marina .... We loved the Italian restaurant it had Best dessert.... For takeaway spicy bites.

rooms not clean,rooms serviced late in the day,not given any instructions example where to go for breakfast,how the room keys worked,where there restaurant was,how there valet parking worked.no contact from the first day to the last,we read in a book in our room about check out times.the pool area and conditions was a sigh at the pool when you entered the gate to sign in and sign out.it was not until we saw someone with food and drinks at the pool that you could actually order things.if you are asian you are waited on hand and foot they were treating them a lot better.i don,t know if it is because we booked on line or not.disapointed but would not recommend to any one or stay there again. sorry lucy
Travel tip:
there is so much to do and see in cairns and port douglas a must do trip.
