Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.
We want you to pay the lowest possible rate for your room. If you have reserved a hotel room through Agoda, and then show us that you could book the same room, for the same dates, at a lower rate, that is viewable and bookable on another website, within 48 hours of booking your room with us, we will either match that rate or beat it. Room is spacious. People are polite. Good location.
Bay view is good to oversee the sea side, the lagoon and pier. Don't forget to enjoy the lovely sunset. The free Lagoon is just walking distance, must try.
Recommend the Oysters at Tha Fish and Crab at Preco's Rest.
It is just next to pier and helicopter point so perfect for various outing activities. Staffs are nice and polite. It is also close to Casino and Esplanade area. My bay view room is in North tower so have to change lift every time when we go out and back.
Hotel Feature Tip : It's internet is free during our stay. you just turn on wireless or plug the LAN cable to your computer, go to any site, and it will pop up a message, saying it is $0 per day and ask you to accept.

Modern hotel in central loation
Nice hotel bar and restaurant and pool area
Hotel is attached to the Pier shopping centre
Garden view room we stayed in was a bit dated
One of the best hotels in Cairns and located very centrally in the town. Hotel has parking underneath which is complementary. Reception area, pool and bar/restaurant are all very modern and service is good. We booked a garden view room however which I would not recommend - very dark and dated and no view at all. Upgrade to the sea view if you can.
Restaurant Tip : The hotel breakfast buffet is over-priced at $32 per head - have breakfast outside the hotel.

The central location to everything.
The views out to the bay in the morning and evening.
The decor (esp the reception and the lobby) is pretty bad. Does not feel like a 5 star hotel.
The water in the spa next to the pool is very dirty.
We had a pretty good room for 4 nights on the 3rd floor in the north tower with a balcony looking out to the bay and partly to the marina on the right. Very spacious and comfortable room. Good bed to sleep. You can watch the fruit bats flying past every evening and it is a wonderful sight. The restaurant on the ground level is ok but nor spectacular. However the hotel is so close to other eating places along the waterfront or the Esplanade so you don't have to worry about the choice of food. The hotel swimming pool is very nice. However, the water in the hot spa next to the pool is very dirty with brown bubbles once the air pump started and the management should clean it more regularly as my skin felt uncomfortable once I went in it and then I immediately came out. Nevertheless, I would still recommend the hotel to others as it is really in a good location and the staff are very friendly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Close to the city centre lagoon, the eating strip along the esplanade, the casino and the cruise terminal for outer reef trips.

Nice outdoor garden and pool area, good location on the water, close to snorkel and dive boats.
Bit run down for a Shangri-La, musty in room.
Visited Cairns in February when it was really hot and humid. The room was so humid it was musty and there was mould in some corners. I know that it can be difficult to keep humidity down but we expected more from the Shangri-La. The hotel was close to the main area and right next to the pier. We booked a snorkelling trip and just had to walk next door. It was also a short walk to the man-made beach area which is worth a visit. We hired a car for a day and when we returned to the hotel they parked the car overnight and returned it for us in the morning.
Restaurant Tip : The cafe near the water (where the tour boats are) makes a good coffee and toasty, albeit a bit expensive.

For my wife and I the hotel was too big (200+ rooms) and consequently we found it a bit impersonal. Compared to smaller hotels that we had stayed in we felt a bit anonymous at the Shangri la.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Helicopter trip to the barrier reef.

Deluxe Tei Katsu atmosphere is refined, the best location for sightseeing
Seaside is a good location and is very nicely situated on the deck of the seaside restaurants. You will see the marina from the hotel. To be refined and the interior of the room and entrance lobby, and, in the sense of the resort is a deluxe atmosphere., But rather stay in a room with ocean view, and we can enjoy the hotel.
