- WiFi available - Staff need a bit of work, they were not especially friendly and at times were really short and rude
- Having to pay for WiFi We stayed two nights at the Hotel Cairns, our check in experience was OK although our room was up a flight of stairs and there was no offer to assist with luggage.
The rooms were a nice size and showers were fantastic.
The location is great also, just a few minutes walk to the center of Cairns and there was also a nice restaurant in the hotel. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but did eat dinner, which was nice.
On checking out, the lady we dealt with was very short and really unhelpful. We asked if there was a printer available and her reply was that there is a minimum of $6 charge for use of the internet... not sure what that had to do with it as I had already purchased time. After explaining this to her, her next response was that the printer ink was low so will be hard to read any printouts. I accepted this and re-asked my question if we can print a document, to which she replied begrudgingly yes (why I have no idea).
Overall, I would stay here again, although they do need to work on the professionalism of the staff. I know it is a relaxed city, but a little polish is needed to compete with the larger hotels.
Restaurant Tip : Definitely go to Piccolo Cantina, it was the best Italian food I have had in a long time. Also for a cocktail, try Salt House, it is right on the marina and great place to sit and watch the sun go down.
